"Phenomenal TV...this review does not do it justice!" on by ToreroGuySD

Pros: The picture quality is simply outstanding, once the tv has been properly calibrated. The black levels are great and the color accuracy is impeccable. Viewing angle is far superior to most other LCD tv's. Feature set is good.

Cons: My only complaint is that this tv lacks wi-fi connectivity (there is an ethernet port, however) to stream Netflix, etc. Also, you will have to invest some time to calibrate this tv to get the best possible picture...but the result is worth it!

Summary: As a long time cnet lurker, I have never seen fit to offer my $0.02. But after reading this hatchet job of a review, I feel compelled to comment on this TV. As stated above, this review sells this tv short. Simply look at the UK cnet review for the comparable model or to the AVS Forum. I originally considered the Samsung UNB6000 when I accidentally stumbled upon the Sharp LED. I was sold on the Samsung for the longest time, but was intrigued by the Sharp. Even though this TV lacks local dimming, I found the PQ to be superior to the Samsung because the full LED backlight provided full screen uniformity (better blacks, etc), which cannot be said for the side-lit Samsung. I compared the two tv's side by side and was more impressed with the Sharp, which surprised me since I originally intended on purchasing the Samsung. All said, this review has to be taken with a grain of salt, as it simply does not do the tv justice (I can only conclude that the professional cnet reviewer did not properly calibrate this tv...poke around the AVS Forum for similar conclusions).

    Hi Val:

If you go to www.avsforum.com and search for "le70un" you should find the thread that mentions a variety of different calibrations and settings. I used the ones proposed by reviewer Chad and then modified them as necessary for my room and lighting conditions.
