"Nice TV Except for the Banding"
Pros: Lots of inputs, attractive design, good blacks
Cons: Banding problem
Summary: We've had the TV for almost two weeks and are pretty happy with it, however our set also has the banding defect mentioned in this review. Ours does not sound as bad as the one in the review, but you do notice it in scenes with an all black or all gray background. Sharp's quality control for sets this expensive should be a lot better than it apparently is. If you buy one, you should probably buy a unit at a store and ask to have it tested first before you take it home.

Has the banding been fixed on the new LC 52D64U just recently announced by Sharp on Aug. 15th
-
i have let a review in the past, about my banding appearing on top of some low budget commericals, I since than have been experimening with the remote-
VIEW MODE button options (Dot by DOT, Stretch, S_Stretch, and ZOOM) if the option is Dot by DOT, you will EXPERIENCE BANDING!!! THe screen has many pixels, if the view option is Dot by DOT, the pixels don't have anywhere to go, which causes the banding line on top of screen, its just a compressed line of pixels. THATS IT!!! I love the HD YES channel, truly feels like I'm at the GAME!
I recommend the TV- I got it from PCrichards for 3200, a good deal. -
I was planning on buying this tv until I read about the banding issues, so I held off thinking it would be resolved. Any word yet?
