"I Have the White Line Too" on by el_cabong
Pros: Great picture. My first HD. Went back and bought another for the bedroom. Then I got Sony Blu-Ray players (see below)
Cons: I have the white line on my 46" but not my 42" (or is it 40"? I can't remember). But I remember this! DO NOT get a Sony Blu-Ray player to go with it. I have 2 and they are both slow as smoke off dog poop. Also won't play certain discs. Goodbye Sony
Summary: White line at the top is very distracting and everyone loves to point it out like I've never seen it before. I thought I was getting the best but obviously not. I'm electronically homeless at this point. I need a third TV now but I think I'll look more closely at other brands this time. Also, those Sony people sure are arrogant.

"Only one major problem, otherwise better than the comp" on by Reznuel
Pros: Better audio versus competition
HDMI-CEC cross compatibility
Input labeling
Auto volume adjuster
good contrast ratio
Great picture (with one major exception)Cons: Buttons on top instead of side
Horrible ACE technology
Not uniform backlighting
Slow to change channels/startup
Digital Tuner sucks without an antennaSummary: great bedroom tv, its better than the competition in audio, 10 watt x 2 instead of 5Wx2 like Samsung and LG. Obviously not great sound but if you're concerned about not having to hook up to a separate audio source, this tv had the bigger speakers. The HDMI-CEC works with my Samsung HDMI-CEC compatible DVD player, so good cross compatibility. I would put in a dvd and the tv would turn on and change inputs automatically. Lots of inputs and awesome picture (with one exception).
ACE Technology. This feature automatically dims/adjusts the backlight to enhance contrast and you can't turn it off. If the picture is dark, it dims even more so its hard to see the picture. No fix on Sony's support for this model, although they do have an upgrade/firmware fix for higher end models that feature the same technology and problem. It's the whole reason I ended up returning it. the screen is also backlit from the four corners and it's pretty apparent when you have bars or a really dark scene. You can see that the corners are brighter than the rest of the screen. Somewhat annoying, but I could have lived with that.
Too bad for the auto dimming feature. If you're never planning on watching a scary movie, or hell, even a movie with a shot of the sky (it dims so much that you can barely even see the moon) then you can buy this tv, otherwise, don't. I really loved everything else, but this was just bad and not typical of good Sony products. Sony CS couldn't help at all. Also, the digital tuner would not pick up stations until I plugged in an antenna. -
"Disapponted" on by jamieporter
Pros: Sony has decent prices
Cons: picture, audio is not the greatest. SONY service
Summary: I decided to take advantage of the sales at Circuit City recently, i was anxious to get a new TV for the bedroom. I am a loyal SONY customer. I have a 46" SONY BRAVIA XBR4 which I could not be more happy with. So I was excited to get a SONY for the bedroom. I decided on the KDL26M4000. After my initial set up to a Comcast cable box, I found there was a white line at the top of the screen almost as if I needed to adjust the vertical just a bit. There is a feature to do this but it does not work in full mode with a cable box. I returned the cable box for a new one and found to have the same problem. So I decided to hook up the 26M400 to the cable box I use with my 46" XBR4. (which I love) Still had the problem. I can't reurn the TV to Circuit city, so i called SONY tech where they basically did everything possible to convince me the problem is NOT the TV, but my cable. I have used 3 different cable boxes with 3 different cable outlets with 3 different HDMI cables and still have a white line going across my screen in FULL mode only. When I watch Wide Zoom there is no problem. I am disappointed with the TV, the fact I can't return it to Circuit City and in my opinion SONY not really wanting to believe the problem CAN be with the TV. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed with SONY and I have always purchased SONY phones and TV's. I can truly say I am disappointed in the TV and really haven't enjoyed it as much as I would have liked

"Awesome TV/Monitor,great exterior and video engine;)" on by LarryIverson
Pros: Set up to my Macbook was easy and recognized without confusing adjustments.
The design is modern and shiny I wish I had a white one. Connections in the back are up to date for everything out there today. I don't need to buy a desk top computer now.Cons: No wall mount. It's not white and doesn't have an Apple logo on it. But seriously,it's perfect except for the lack of a wall mount and glossy screen. Also the lack of a VGA
cable. Would have been a downer on Christmas day, no fiddling around on PC.Summary: The first movie I played on the Tv was " Journey to the center of the Earth" the new one. I started up the movie on the scene were a guy was falling into a lava tube. Awesome was all I could think. The colors were absolutely stunning. This Tv/Monitor is an excellent choice over just buying a monitor. The price is very affordable for a Tv of this quality. In fact I am writing this review using one as my monitor. The fonts are still pretty crisp, the setup is a breeze.

"Great Picture, Great Price point" on by Baroness loraca
Pros: Clear and crisp. Larger than I thought it would be.
Cons: pixels are apparent when you are close to screen but then there is no reason to be.
Summary: This is a great TV for a child's room. Is excellent for use with the Xbox360.
