"best tv in $2200 price range" on by canolde
Pros: best image quality on the market
Cons: older peripherals and analog tv aren't good enough to use with it
Summary: I can't beleive cnet gave this a 7. I've been shopping for a tv for around two years - and have scrutinized every tv sold in retail stores like best buy, circuit city, etc. constantly. You'd have to be blind to not see how the picture quality of this tv is easily the best available. The color reproduction is as close to perfect as you'll find and the image detail can't be touched. Nothing comes close.
To rate this tv a 7 because of how it handles analog signals and non hd components seems a little backwards. Why would someone spend over $2000 on a tv if they were going to use low-end peripherals and analog signals.
I'll admit though, it's kinda surprising to see how horrible standard signals actually are - but how can you fault this tv for giving a perfect reproduction of what it's given? Anyone on the fence about a tv in this price range - go to best buy and look at the picture on this tv, take a walk around and if you find a tv with a better picture, you need to get your eyes checked. -
"Great for your HD source" on by happyfundave
Pros: One of the best LCD's on the market
Cons: Sucks at none HD source
Summary: After playing around with this TV a lot i found that i prefered the picture to sharp and samsung's equally sized LCD's that came out at about the same time. it had great black levels and handled upconverted dvd as well as HD signals very well. the picture quality with non HD dropped a lot although i was looking at non-digital quality standard def so perhaps digital cable might still look good.

"If I had known then what I know now....." on by SusanO76
Pros: Good pic, HDMI input impresses me more than I thought
Cons: aspect ratio is dumb
Summary: This TV is great for the HD user. Being in the entry level category, I opted to save a couple hundred dollars over the other model I had researched. The picture is decent for my lack of digital cable. Upconverts my newer DVDs way better than I had expected from the HDMI Imput. Then I ran an older DVD and discovered that you can't change the aspect ratio. Why they left out THAT option, I can't fathom. Now I have to pack it up and spend the money I tried to save. Lesson learned - listen to your research, not the kid in the store.

"failed after 2.5 months, service nonexistant" on by jquanrud
Pros: excellent picture
Cons: poor quality craftmanship, zero service from Sony
Summary: I purchased this unit 3/24/2006 and was very pleased initially. When the picture went dead, the error message said it needed service. I took it in to the authorized service center on 6/10. On 6/20 I was informed it needed a new LCD panel but that was backordered until 7/5 (at the earliest). The official Sony policy is to fix it (whenever they feel like it) and to leave me without anything until at least a month from when i took it in. I feel this is unreasonable on a new unit. If you dont have the parts you should replace it.

"Stunning HDMI Performance" on by IFLYMAUI
Pros: Excellent Entry-Level Sony LCD 32-Inch
Cons: I've found none in the set/sub-par remote
Summary: Here's what I did... I took home 'Open Box' sets from both Circuit and Best Buy. Spent two months checking Panasonic, JVC and Phillips. I would have kept a performer but never found one until I saw the individual hairs on the ICE AGE DVD associated to Sony's KDL-32S2000. The picture quality was stunning, clean and ultra crisp. Enough so that I simply bought one without personally testing it myself.
I'm ultra pleased. Even a I LOVE LUCY B/W DVD provided me with such detail that scenes that I had seen for years exposed details about cloting and set designs. B/W was unbelievable.
Essential though is that you marry this set to HDMI components and use high quality HDMI cable.
This is a set that should not be shipped though. Use a Brick & Motar store. Circuit City.Com sold it to me for far less than online merchants by paying online and the visiting the store for pickup. Therfe was tax but no shipping plus the online discount made for still the best value.
I have zero complaints about the set. The remote is a single function remote and functions no other Sony components. That's a let down as I also purchased a HDMI Sony DVD player.
The KDL-32S2000 runs circles around Panasonic, Phillips or JVC. A great HD set indeed as always from Sony.
