"failed after 2.5 months, service nonexistant"
Pros: excellent picture
Cons: poor quality craftmanship, zero service from Sony
Summary: I purchased this unit 3/24/2006 and was very pleased initially. When the picture went dead, the error message said it needed service. I took it in to the authorized service center on 6/10. On 6/20 I was informed it needed a new LCD panel but that was backordered until 7/5 (at the earliest). The official Sony policy is to fix it (whenever they feel like it) and to leave me without anything until at least a month from when i took it in. I feel this is unreasonable on a new unit. If you dont have the parts you should replace it.

Why didn't you return it to the place where you purchased it? Why did you take it to a service center? They should have replaced it. If something goes bad that fast the dealer ought to trade it out.

as your service experience gripe is well taken, how about a review of how the set performed before your problem began? Afterall this IS what this foroum is for. Reviews such as yours are not helpful because in your anger or frustration you gave it a One rating. All factors should be considered before you post a review, that way your review will have more merit and be taken more seriously.
