  • "No picture after 15 months..."
    on by UnhappySonyOwner

Pros OK while it worked, picture usually good...My first Flat Screen HDTV, optimistic when it was set up...

Cons Strange flutter and delay while changing channels. Black screen happened while watching a basketball game...picture has not returned, just a black screen...very frustrating...

Summary I did not like the way the television made the transition from channel to channel. To suddenly lose the picture was quite a surprise. I thought SONY products were better than this. This experience is discouraging, inconvenient and annoying. I will seriously consider other brands when shopping for a new television...

  • "Nice TV, but keep shopping."

Pros Very good HD and SD picture quality.
    Decent sound quality
Matte black housing doesn't reflect glare.

    Cons Uneven screen brightness.
Poor Black-and-White image quality (both D and SD).
    Lousy remote.

Summary Picture quality is quite good, with reasonably dark black levels and decent color. Very impressive Standard Definition picture, which is going to be important for some time yet. I highly recommend Cnet's calibration settings. That said, I have yet to get realistic skin tones no mater how I tweak the settings.

However, the right 20% of the screen is noticeably brighter than the rest of the screen. Also, the set does a bad job with Black-and-White programming. The left half of the screen is significantly red-toned, while the left tends towards green.

The matte-black cabinet, while not sexy, reflects no glare from ambient light. This is especially significant since black levels in a totally-darkened room are disappointing.

I disagree with Cnet's appraisal of the remote, which feels cheap and uncomfortable in the hand. Its ergonomics are poor: it isn't obvious which end is up without looking at it, several significant buttons - notably mute - are hard to locate.

The on-screen menu, on the other hand, is quite good, though I can't say how it compares to other brands.

Overall, I would recommend this TV if you can get a good price. If not, since this is an older model I suggest you keep shopping. LCD technology keeps improving.

  • "One of the best ever TV's that I have ever owend."
    on by warmongoose

Pros Auto light adjustment and 2 HDMI, HD Ready, 1080i acceptable

Cons None so far and I think there will be none at all.

Summary have to say that this TV is one of the best; it has a clear picture with very little distortion, Digital cable (NOT HD) signal. I have the Satellite box connected to my BR player with the HDMI and my XBOX 360 on the other HDMI, going thru my HT system WoW!!! I have it in my BR and ever since my other 50? Panasonic in the LR gets no love.

  • "Excellent Television"
    on by jsbethea

Pros Picture Quality easy to navigate menus

Cons Nothing I can say bad about this.

Summary This is a great TV. THe picture quality is great and the viewing angles are second to none for an LCD. I have it in a very bright room and the automatic brightness adjustments always keep the picture crisp and vibrant.

  • "Great Value & Sharp Picture!"
    on by hsubedar

    Pros Excellent 1080 Picture

    Cons Sound is decent.

Summary Hook this up to a nice home theatre and you're all set. The picture quality is awesome! I got a great deal on this TV as it is being replaced by the XBR series of Sony LCDs.
