"PIP and PAP not available for all components."
Pros: Picture quality is very nice for HDMI connected components only.
Cons: The pip only works for the on board TV tuner and one component. The pap only works for the computer and the on board TV tuner.
Summary: I recently had to replace a flat screen for my home office. I had a Polaroid flm3732. It was perfect for what I needed from a computer monitor with HDTV functionality. Due to a recent flood, I had a dry-waller working on a wall in my office and he broke my LCD screen. UGGGGG!... So, I decided to upgrade to either a Samsung or Sony. I looked for several days and went with Sony kdl-40xbr7. I needed the same functionality that I had with my Polaroid and was assured by the sale people that the Sony would do all that the Polaroid did and more. Well, when I hooked up the Sony to my desktop computer, I found that the video card on my pc needed to be upgraded to a HDMI compatible video card in order to get the correct resolution that I am accustom. MORE MONEY.. Then the AVX Nexus wall mount that works for every monitor on earth up to 40", did not work for my Sony XBR7. I had to buy a new AVX Nexus wall mount 30-50 inch. MORE MONEY! Then after all, of that, I found that the pip only works for the on board TV tuner and one component. The pap only works for the computer and the on board TV tuner. Now tell me, who in the world uses a coax cable or RF antenna on a $2,300.00 flat screen? Sony needs to allow all components to be used for pip and pap. After all, we are paying premium dollars for superior functionality, don't you think? That is so irritating that Sony cannot provide a simple functionality that a lesser product like Polaroid, who had the technical foresight and intelligence to provide to their consumers.
