"Great TV with great features"4.5 starson by techreviewer22
Pros: Picture quality, internet apps and connectivity, dlna support, very energy efficient, plenty of inputs
Cons: menu interface could be a little easier
Summary: this review is for Kdl 52-ex 701 (I think its 701 and not 700 because it came with a wireless LAN adaptor)
I will start this review by saying I am by no means an expert on tv picture quality. I love watching movies, sports, tv shows, blu rays, and playing video games. Many of the reviews on here are talking about the black levels, uniformity, etc... I think the picture is great for the price, and most of us average joes will find this tv perfect for their needs.
I spent months reading reviews and researching before I bought it. Important factors to me were a reliable name brand, picture quality, size, viewing angles, and energy efficiency.
-You really can't go wrong with the bravia line. Somer of the lower end models aren't the best picture, but theyre are all reliable.
-As I mentioned before, the picture quality is great if you're not a tv snob. And i've had plenty of friends come and watch, and they were all impressed.
-I ended up purchasing the 52 inch. I originally wanted to go with a 60 inch tv, but in the end the price increase didn't justify the extra 8 inches (thats what she said). The 52 ended up being the perfect size for my living room, 60 would have been a tad too large
-Viewing angles and reflection were important for me since i have a lot of windows. This tv as a matte finish so watching in a bright room isn't a huge problem. I can also watch from any angle without an issue.
-A feature I love is the energy efficiency. My electric bill has stayed very low. The tv comes with a motion sensor that will turn it off if you leave the room. Its kind of annoying when youre sitting still to watch a movie and it goes off. I can just turn off the feature- but I like have a reminder as to how much time i'm wasting being lazy lol.
The internet features are a very nice bonus. the menus to get to them can get a little frustrating but theyre not awful. i purchased the 701 model at BJS which came bundles with the wireless adaptor so I didnt need to purchase it seperately. I mainly use youtube and pandora. theres also lots of connectivity options. plenty of usb, hdmi, and other outputs. I can also use DLNA to wirelessly share files between my droid x and the tv (which was on the difficult side to figure out)
I can't speak for sound quality since I purchase a sony soundbar. The 2 systems work flawlessly together and it was worth it for another $300.
I purchased the tv from BJ's for $1400 which I believe is a pretty good deal. I'm sure there will be some better prices coming up for black friday. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tv.
