"My first HDTV"
Pros: Connectivity, quality of picture, menu options, and sound.
Cons: price (i paid a bit much but there are some better deals out there)
Summary: I didn't know what I was getting at first because of the overwhelming amount of information out there about tv's. But when I got it narrowed down some, I finally went to the store. I expected to buy the KDL-46S4100 but I got the V series instead because just by looking at the two, I could see a world of difference. Anyway, I talked the sales person into getting the "V" for only $100 more plus an expensive additional 2 year warranty which I hope I won't need. I got it home and I was blown away! I thought I had my surround system hooked up until I checked the receiver and realized that it was just the TV! I get the PC input I need for my laptop and other high quality inputs for stuff I don't even have yet...future proof! The menu is somewhat complicated at first but I like the layout and backlight feature. I love the VIVID setting for my currently limited 1080i & 720p HD channels. I noticed pixelated images during fast paced sports which I thought was because of the refresh rate. However, after some research I found that this is probably because of the content provider compressing the images. I still haven't seen what this TV is fully capable of. but what I HAVE seen so far is awesome! I can't wait to get an adequate DVD player for this thing and start watching some 1080p DvD's!

Yes your better off going with blu-ray. DVD's are not 1080p. There are DVD players that upconvert to 1080p but if you want true 1080p you need to go with blu-ray

How buy another DVD player? Just skip the redundancy and Get Blu-ray! you didn't buy this upscale HDTV that supports the latest technology just to lame it down with old technology. 1. Blu-ray players upscale to 1080p (if you are hellbent on upconverting a native 480i signal) 2. You'll have what HDTV was meant for, HD content, and 3. If you get a Sony Blu-ray player your TV and player will be controlled with one remote through the compatible HDMI link. Its a win win!! Sony players are under $300 bucks now. A good upconverting DVD player still costs over $100 dollars. Do the math!!
