Pros Beautiful picture, ability to attach a computer, automatic input switching with compatible Sony Blu-ray player, 3 HDMI inputs, Typical Sony quality. Can not say enough good!
Cons Screen did start having issues just out of warranty. Around 14 months and the screen went dark on one side and dim in the middle. However, Sony extended the warranty on all 46 inch XBR models and replaced it in my home in approx 1 week after calling them.
Summary Many of the poor reviews are due to people just accepting what is dealt to them. All in all, this TV is a great piece of electronics. Very typical of Sony. They do not like any bad publicity and will do everything they can to rectify any serius issues.
Pros great picture
Cons failed video card after 2 years. I have never had a sony TV fail before and I have probably had 6. Currently have two other 61 inch projection units. Extremely disappointed in this product. Waiting for the repair estimates.
Summary I will not purchase another sony TV.
Pros Color accuracy/depth/picture sharpness/quality/great blacks
Cons It is kinda expensive..
Summary Purchased a 2 day old open box at Circuit city for $1800 (what a steal!!)..This is still one fo the best pictures I've seen on a TV...I've checked em' all out..Plasma..LED...name it...This model will stack up with no problem....adjusted properly you'll see what a real beauty the XBR4 is...Color accuracy is fantastic..no ultra saturated cartoon colors (unless you want that..) excellent uniformity in color and black level across the entre screen..sharp defined picture..deep shade of black and detail in the darler areas as well..Sony's motionflow is THE BEST antiblur tech for LCD tv's...I see very few if any artifacts in anything I watch..from DirecTv HD to PS3..Blu Ray..everything looks spectacular..even the SD programming on DirecTV looks smooth and defined...I have never even had this thing calibrated! I just used the Spears and Munsil set up disc and dialed it in per the instructions and adjusted to my taste. I'll add this...all this b.s. "clouding issue" is related to only three things..improperly adjusted sets...bad unit..(it happens to all TV brands) or the most likely culprit...trying to watch 480i content from ****** cable providers or DirecTV...I've seen it...but ONLY on non HD programming and RARELY at that!! You can't fill in information that's not there..theres not enough density in the 480i picture to avoid that...Plasma may limit it just beacuse of the infinite shades of black available in that style of TV technology... All the reviewers(CNET/Home Theater) talk abbout the "deep blacks" of plasma and LED, but really ask yourself this when you're looking at TVS at the store....does the picture look good to you? If it does at the store, imagine how good it will look at home properly adjusted and with your sattelite/cable hooked up to it via hdmi and not split 50 ways/hooked up with a coax and set on torch mode like they have them in the store...if you find an XBR4..buy it..you'll save lotsa$ and still have an outstanding TV that will bring many hours of quality viewing to your living room....
"faulty picture"on by irishsweed
Pros bezeled frame looks good
Cons should last more than 2 years.
Summary Our tv is less than 2 years old and screen is totally pixelated and looks like a plaid fabric when the tv is turned on. After about 10 minutes the picture slowly returns. Sony has been of absolutely no help with this problem. They said "it's probably internal problem". Duh!
Pros was an excellent tv until broke
Cons all of a sudden the display broke and the repair cost is over $2000. It's a piece of trash now. I paid more than $2700 in December 2007 for this tv and still have a few monthly payments left for something that turned out to be garbage now.
