"Worth the money" on by rastogi_m
Pros: Picture Quality and 120Hz frame rate
Cons: Nothing so far
Summary: I've had my 40W4100 for 3 weeks now. I researched, researched and researched until I was worn out. I had narrowed my selections down to this or Samsung. I didn't like the TOC or gloss screen of the Samsung (my den has alot of glare during the day) so I decided on the Sony. And boy am I glad I did! This TV just blows me away! I have everything connected HDMI (DishTV HD HR21, PS3 and Onkyo 606 receiver). If anyone is on the fence about this TV climb on over and get one!!
You will NOT be disappointed. Youwould not believe the WOW factor from my friends when they see it for the first time, and I find myself never wanting to go to bed at night anymore. HAHA....Nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever perfect! I can assure you the Samsung's aren't perfect, either. So from a true 40W4100 owner, BUY THIS TV, you will not regret it!!!! -

"This tv will break after your one year warranty expires" on by topher323
Pros: nothing good about this tv. During the first year when it actually works the picture is not even that good.
Cons: Not worth the money!
Summary: After a year the t-con board will fail or the lcd panel or something will go out and it will cost more to fix it than to buy a new tv set. Sony really screwed the pooch on this one! I will never buy a Sony tv again.

"Extremely Disappointed- $1,200 Waste of Money" on by ncomly
Pros: Unfortunately, I can't say anything positive.
Cons: We purchased the TV in Feb 2009. Just after the 1 yr warranty expired it developed large lines on the screen. 2 independent repair co's examed it and noted the panel was bad. Both stated the cost to repair it was more than a new TV.
Summary: We spent $1,200 for what we thought was a top notch TV by a reputuable company. Instead, we received a lemon that lasted only slightly longer than the 1 year warranty. I will never buy another Sony product.

"This TV great until it fails before it's 2 years old" on by Kansas24
Pros: Picture was great, loved it.
Cons: The panel is going out on mine (few lines of pixels dying 2" from top of screen) and it will cost $1762.00 to fix a @1200.00 TV when it's only 19 months old. Sony offered me a meager discount on a new TV, but didn't offer to help fix the old one.
Summary: Would not buy Sony again for all the tea in China. I will probably go Samsung at some time... after I finish paying for my trashed Sony. This TV was great, it just doesn't last. If I see the name Sony on anything --I won't be buying it. It used to mean a quality item, now it means unhelpful customer service and some shady business practices. If I take their "discount" on a new TV, I have to mail them my serial numbers etc peeled off the back of my old TV making it appear basically stolen --AND-- I have to release them from all liability. I dunno... I think it's pretty awful when the part to fix a TV costs more than the TV itself. Pretty sad business practices. Think twice before you buy Sony.
