"NO PICTURE after 1 year 9 months of operation!" on by TPL_JR

Pros: Good picture, good refresh rate for viewing action, good value--UNTIL PRODUCT FAILURE.

Cons: My mother received her Toshiba 26AV502U LCD HD TV Dec. 2, 2008. There were a few occurences of the picture freezing, but since Sep. 26, 2010 though the TV still receives the broadcast signal, plays sound, changes channels, etc., the picture is gone!

Summary: The Toshiba 26AV502U FAILED 9 months after its 1-year warranty expired! Following trouble-shooting by Toshiba Customer Support we were informed that the repair required an Inverter Kit Part Number 75013114 and were directed to Lancer TV & Video in South Milwaukee for the necessary repair. We were told the replacement Part cost $300 to repair a TV only 9 months out of warranty and not even 2 years old. Toshiba, when asked, stated that there was no recall on this product though this failure seems NOT to be an isolated incident.

"Slow channel selection, with complete blackout in 1 yr" on by John_and_Neneng

Pros: It has a clear picture and is relatively easy to use. I like the variety of cable connections possible.

Cons: Channel selection is really slow with our remote. After only 1 1/2 years (received as gift in Dec. 2008), we were trying to connect to a cable digital adapter, when it went completely black. We made several attempts to fix but even a tech couldn't.

    "Very Effective" on by scorpinock2

Pros: Very clear picture, great connectivity, decent built in speakers, bright, lot's of menu options and great colour when adjusted

Cons: Slow channel switch, all AV connectors are facing down so they are akward to use

Summary: This TV is great, it's light, bright, has a great picture after some minor adjustments and is affordable. I got this from a relative after they have owned it for 3 years and it has been constantly used every day so it has been stress tested before I aquired it. It has great connectivity options, however, I have not tested all the AV connections yet, so far HDMI works, otherwise when I tried to connect my dvd player through component in it wasnt working but that DVD player has not been used in about half a year. Otherwise I love this tv, sounds great and looks great what else is there to say?

"Remote and TV sensor failed just out of warranty." on by Rasicci

Pros: The picture quality is good compared to other 26" flat screen TV's, but I wish I had bought the Samsung.

Cons: They have a problem with this set and instead of making it an inexpensive repair, Toshiba is going to charge as much for the repair as the LCD TV cost new.

Summary: I will not be buying another Toshiba TV, although I bought a Toshiba 18" laptop from Toshiba Direct that has worked well. My son is still using my previous laptop, a five- (5-) year-old Toshiba 17" laptop. I have purchsed numerous Toshiba TV's in the past, but they were all tube TV's. This was my first LCD TV. I will probably put this in an other room in the house and buy another brand of flat-screen TV for the master bedroom.
