"Simply a great set!" on by rick752

Pros: Nice deep blacks, excellent hd, better than expected standard cable display, good sound. great price.

Cons: There seems to be some IFR interference from the tv for about the first minute or so that renders my cable box remote ineffective ... a strange, minor inconvenience.

Summary: After looking at 100s of large screen lcds, I decided that my next set was going to be a Toshiba. Out of all the sets I had seen, Toshiba was the set my eyes were always drawn too. This set has one of the best "black" displays I have seen ... which translates into a very sharp picture. Even standard cable broadcasts look very good with this set. The "theaterwide" modes give you different aspect ratios to optimize screen space for non-hd .Itt also seems to have better sound than most other lcds. The 48RV525U actually looks great 'right out of the box', but you'll probably want to tweak it a bit for your own taste & lighting. Controls and setup are easy. For a 60Hz video display, I have not seen any on the 'blurring' motion issues that others have talk about with different lcds.
For the price, picture and features, you can't go wrong with this set ... I love it. If you can get a decent price on this set, buy it! .... you will not be disappointed :-)

"a fantastic piece of equipment" on by dlh1000

Pros: great performance, in HD or non HD It seems to take a regular broadcast and turn it to High Def

Cons: the only con is there seems to be some type of interference with remote for the cable box (strange)

Summary: I Purchased 46rv525U last year and, i compared the picture to all the other major brands, Sony, Vizio, Samsung, LG and even the mighty Mitsubishi, and the 525 out performed them something fierce. To be honest about It I was not sold on High Def until I looked at the Toshibas. One of the major selling points was watching a night time scene that really looked like a night time scene, NewYork at night was just like being there @ night.
The only thing that I can find to complain about is this thing with the remote maybe something they will address in the very near future, if you are looking for a top notch performer ................. this is it.

"Overall Great Television" on by ozofire125

Cons: Nothing really wrong with it in my opinion, I have some interference with cable box but only when the cable box isn't turned onto a HD channel

"Best value LCD compared to the competition" on by osung

Pros: Amazing resolution, sharpness, and color. Lots of connectivity and functionality for your money. Biggest bang for your buck compared to Sharp, Sony, and Samsung. Hook it up with HDMI and a Blu Ray player, it looks great at 1080P

Cons: Signal interference with my digital cable box when you turn it on for the first minute. Afterwards it works fine. Other than that, no issues.

Summary: I've compared every brand of LCD's and Plasma's for over 3 months and found that the Toshiba was the best value by at least $200-500 difference when compared to tv's of the same or smaller size. Side by side comparisons with the competition is negligible, especially if you are talking about $200-500 cost difference. 120 hertz motion technology is way overrated hype which you won't even notice. You won't be disappointed with the 46RV525U.

"great set . not just a "great set for the money"" on by willthesteel

Pros: great right out the box picture may need a little tuning to those real picky people. great deep blacks.

Cons: hdmi problems for the motorola QIP6416 receiver.with a lot of new tvs out 2008 and up have signals probs these receivers are old tech. (2006 and lower) switching from hd to non hd channels the signal goes out just switch the input then switch it back

Summary: this is a good tv. i really wish CNET would review a toshiba 525u series so i can see what they say. i went to the store to get the samsung LN46a500 tv for $1099 on sale for xmas. i saw this tv right next to it with much deeper blacks and just an all around better picture, but my problem was i didnt know much about toshibas sets. that store didnt have sales associates that knew anything(sears) so i went to circuit city. i know a guy that works there. listin to these people they dont make commision anymore they just get paid more per hr.! he said that the 525u series is new and is much better than the 530u series. he asked how much sears had the 46rv525u for ($1199) he then told me that for that price i should deff. get that set over the samsung ln46a500, because circuit city was selling the same tv for $1399. and that particular samsung was not too great. i asked him about toshibas reputation and he said theyre just about 3rd tier (sony, samsung, then toshiba and a couple others about the same) the main thing i was concerned about was having problems with the tv and the tv life. he said they rarely ever get toshibas back and he hasnt heard or read of to many things happening to them. with that saidive only had mine for about 2 months but so far so good.
