"Do Not Buy" on by robertsteele
Pros: Great Picture
Cons: Doesn't Last
Summary: After buying my 52LX177 on Christmas Eve I was extremely happy...until two months later.
I now have a blue line that goes from the bottom of my screen on the left side to the top of the screen about 16 inches in from the left side. It is very noticable with HD or 1080 images, and shines right through weather it is bright or dark images.
The real problem is the lack of Toshiba customer service. It took me 8 phone calls and 3 hours of varrying hold time. The correct number is 800.631.3811.
I had to try three different service companies to come to the house to tell me I needed a new LCD panel, yeah I already knew that. The Washington DC area is without many Toshiba service persons, but I found a great guy at J & M Electronics 703.519.6122.
So he orders me a replacement LCD and the ETA is the end of May. YES I SAID THE END of May.
I call Toshiba back to express my displeasure with this and they tell me they will investigate the back order status and get back to me. Two weeks later, two times me calling them back, and I still have no information.
Looks like they should advertise a beautiful picture with a nice vibrant blue line and horrible customer service.

Just noticed the same problem on my dad's TV. He has 2 vertical lines. It is about 10 months old. Hopefully I will have better luck getting it resolved.

Fortunately, I bought mine at Crutchfield and all it took was one 20-minute phone call to their customer service and they had a new one out to me the next day. I must say, when I reported this to Toshiba, they didn't even respond back and flipped me off! I still feel happy with my purchase and glad I bought at Crutchfield, but I understand the frustration with having to deal with "the big boys". I hope all works out for you, too bad you must wait until May! Hang in there!!!
