"A fantastic deal on a top-notch LCD"
Pros: 4 HDMI's, broad contrast, great colors, elegant design
Cons: Slight washout at extreme angles, No PIP, Sound could be better
Summary: I bought this TV a week ago after researching for two years. I compared this model to the Sony's and Samsung's and Sharp's. I would say it's on par with the Sharp's. It can't compete with the Bravia's or the Samsung models in terms of contrast. However, it has remarkable contrast. The blacks are very good and I would say are better than some Plasma's I've seen. There are a plethora of aspect ratio options and the "native" choice gives you true dot-by-dot 1080p resolution for 1080 source material. My Sony BDP-S301 Blu-ray player looks phenomenal on it. The Dyna-light function dims and brightens the backlight as you watch a program. I was skeptical of this feature initially, but it has proven itself to be quite effective. This TV also shines in the area of adjustability. You can adjust just about every setting including the backlight (even with the Dyna-light feature "on"). It really annoys me when you can't adjust backlighting because that often is what contributes to the "washout" effect you get with dark scenes of a movie. I have to admit that off-angles are not the best on this TV and I've seen better on other LCD's. However, this is a minor issue and doesn't give me pause in confidently recommending this TV for anyone whose ready to make the plunge into HD. Especially when you can get this set for 1200 or less online. I'm very satisfied with my selection.
