"too much green to tell"
Pros: vivid colors, 14 bit processor, 10bit screen
Cons: GREEN PLAGUE
Summary: If you like green, this set is for you. I have been shopping for 6 months now, and thought this would be the set. I had heard of some green tint, but figured I could calibrate it out easily enough. I was wrong. Even professional calibration will not get all the green tint out of this tv. It shows up in the shadows, and gives the tv a "green scale" as opposed to a gray scale. I am in the process of trying to either get a fixed set, or return it all together....toshiba is not the best company to deal with in my opinion. This set does have the best colors I have ever seen, and if they get rid of the green problem, I would say it is the best set on the market, but as it is now, I would say stay away, unless you love green.

Toshiba and its new LX177 series are among the best set of features I have found. Why are they so unresponsive? No responses to emails. Employees answering the phone and have no idea what's going on. It appears that many have had the green problem but I have yet to see anyone report a permanent fix. To think about spending over $2k and getting inadequate response from the seller. Until I see positive action from Toshiba count on no sale from me.

I went through four exchanges, including the latest top-of-the line units before I gave up.
With certain B/W DVD's the entire screen had a light green tint. With color shows the shadows and dark areas have a green tint that is always shifting in intensity. It is very disconcerting. Bright HDTV pictures are excellent in every way.
All other features of the set are great ... overall feature design may be the best around. I couldn't tolerate the green screen.
