"Disappointing Image from a monitor company"
Pros: I bought this because I wanted a smaller size wide screen digital TV for viewing aboard my sailboat. This has a true 16:9 screen.
Cons: One would think a LCD monitor company would know how to provide a reasonable viewing angle. Not so for this TV .. you need to be looking dead on!
Summary: To make this set worse, the sound is atrocious. I wasn't expecting high fidelity but a 17 inch Samsung computer monitor with built in speakers I own sounds high end when compared with the Viewsonic. The excessively glossy black plastic frame has a bright blue LED centered under the screen .. very distracting.
It does indeed receive HDTV digital television with reasonably good sensitivity. The setup menu provides the normal things like channel scanning and picture adjustments. There is an HDMI input that accepted input from my HD DVD player without issues. I have not used the NTSC video or VGA monitor inputs.
I bought it online without having seen it beforehand. That was a mistake.
