"Solid budget 22" LCD HD TV, built in DVD has issues"
Pros: Price - Best value I could find (and I did a lot of research on-line and off in stores), even if it was a standalone TV
Multi-system DVD (PAL, NTSC) plus zone free
Plenty of connectivity options
Doubles as a computer monitor
Zoom from 4:3 to wideCons: DVD broke after 2 week (sending for repair - will update review after repair)
Summary: I have been a ViewSonic customer for the last 2 years. I own a 40" LCD HD TV and a 19" PC monitor, both are working great and were excellent value when I bought them (and still are)
Some light bleeding apparent from top and bottom of screen in dark scenes, especially when the screen is cold
I bought this TV/DVD combo following an email promotion from ViewSonic for $325 including tax and shipping. I think it was a bargain. I couldn't find any other HD LCD under $350 and thought the DVD was a great bonus.
Picture quality is good - I'm still using an SD cable set top box until they make the HD standard and I want have to pay extra, I'm sure that day is near...
The build quality and finish are much nicer than my older Viewsonic models and the remote and on screen menu are simple and functional.
The built in DVD support PAL and NTSC playback and appears to be region free.
Alas, the DVD has broken after 2 weeks which led me to give it a 3 star rating instead of 4.5. I'm sending it to be fixed - online support were really helpful and responsive in providing me with an RMA number and address to send it to. Only wish I didn't have to way 15-21 days (!) to get it back... I'll update the review once the problem is resolved.
