"Did you turn it on David?? (CNET editor)" on by kev448sc
Pros: Color is MUCH improved from older model. Detachable speakers for wall mounting. Brighter back-light
Cons: Bad news for Sony and Panasonic stockholders...
Summary: First, let me start out and comment about David's review. I also work at a wholesale warehouse and work with many makes and models all day long. If you compare the Gallevia and previous 42", there is no comparison. Vizio did their homework, found what could be improved from the last model, fixed it and still kept the price down and VALUE up! The colors are much improved, back-light is much brighter and detachable speakers are brilliant! Overall, I am very pleased with this model. I would really have trouble splurging for the 40" Sony Bravia for almost TWICE the price. Don't pass this gem up...it's really worth a look.

II went into my local Costco to purchase the 40" Sony Bravio. After watching the demo loops for about an hour and comparing them side by side I left with the Vizio. I was really just impressed with the Vizio picture. I don't think it did flesh tones quite as realistically as the Sony, but the colors seemed much more vibrant and lively. Maybe there is a tradeoff for the truer flesh tones? I was really impressed with the Vizio for the money.

i looked at the sony bravia and the vizio 42 side by side and found little difference and concur with comment on why spend twice as much for comparable output. i could buy two and keep one as a spare!!!

I bought this unit when Costco had a coupon deal for it late this summer. I got the 1699.99 LCD for 1399.99. You cant beat this price for a 42" LCD. It is a great TV, although probably not quite as detailed as a Bravia.
