"""December 2007 Party time for Vizio Galleva"""
Pros: Plain Jane controls, no side connections for game players
Cons: Plain Jane controls, no side connections for game players
Summary: To be simple and brief.. First the ********.
Cnet keeps trying to compare LCD's to Plasmas and thats just not kosher. Please consider that LCD is NOT plasma and keep the technologies separate except for the FYI only comparison.
Now note that the Galleva Vizio does have a few more nice things about them and you need to review the spec sheets. To reduce YOUR cost they have left a few of the fidget knobs and adjustimacation thingies off, don't count that against the TV - it's a plus !!
Remember, 70% of us out here in viewer land never touch a setting once the TV is adjusted to our liking.. and have a fit if someone else does !! To many choices causes us to hit reset and start over way too many times.
TRUTH - Its the picture and ONLY the picture that counts to me(and I bet a lot of you folks) I bought it because I liked the picture and my intent is to watch things on it..Right? Thats a YES, I didn't buy it for cuteness or the number of adjustments, I bought it for the PICTURE and the IN HOME warranty plus I didn't have to justify the expense to my wife either.
Fact.. I spent hours in several stores hands on viewing under several light conditions and I DID fiddle with the adjustments on many models. For the mostpart The Viz is as good or better than all other LCD's .
Current street price from Sears, Circuit City and DELL match at $1199.00
Please note I did score at Sears using Thanksgiving and Black Friday price drops, price matching and with a Credit card 10% rebate to bring my net cost on my unit to $840.00 Now that's a nice number.. but I had to work the system for three days to get it.
Plus Plus- the IN home warranty extension can run you 149.00... Note that it's for a FIVE YEAR Factory extension of IN HOME care totaling 6 years.. holy cow kids.. near free and worry free
To end this not so short evaluation.. BUY IT YOU'll LIKE IT cuz you WANTED A NICE PICTURE
I gave it a 10 because its a great unit and meets all my expectations and for the current price, NO other maker comes close in cost vs value..

NOTE that this is 1080P version
Please also note that this is the 1080P version and not the GV42l(the older model 720p)
The addition of one single letter make a world of difference.. higher resolution and greater contrast ration.. plus a Beaut of a pictureUpdated
OMG- was reading and found Vizio not only runs with the bulls(Sony,Sharp and Samsung)
Vizio does it with only 70 employees out of Irvine California...and last years growth was a whopping 3,000 percent.. from 17 million in 2003 to over 676 million in 2006 with 2007 growth to accelerate that..mmmm, methinks the big boys gottem trouble.
You'll also find the reviews split because Cnet has another review listed for the same TV under V Vizio GV42-LF
