"Just purchased Vizio 37 LCD"
Pros: Price, Connections, Ease of Setup.
Cons: Sound through television not as expected.
Summary: I just purchased the Vizio 37 LCD yesterday from Sams. After reading every review possible, I felt I had to take a chance with the unbeatable price and Sams return policy. My wife was initially not very supportive of the purchase but so far she is delighted with the picture. DVD's looked amazing. High Def channels via CableOne here in Joplin Missouri looked great. The local channels do not look very good, but they don't look good on any TV. So the larger image just amplifies their weaknesses. I will be switching to Dish here soon because their lineup of High Def channels is the largest I have found. I will be purchasing a High Def antenna so I can use it on the second input for PIP. Any recommendations for a good antenna that won't break the bank?
Initially I had the sound going through the TV for both DVD and Cable and then on to my Stereo Receiver. But the sound had an echo effect no matter what settings I had on the TV or on my Stereo Receiver. I went ahead and moved the cables directly to the Stereo Receiver and sound is great. It is more an annoyance for my wife. I try to simplify everything for her. I am using RCA cables. My receiver does not have fiber connections. That is another purchase I will have to convince my wife of. Has anyone else noticed this echo effect?
I plugged in the playstation 2 and the images were great. I do not have Component inputs, yet, for the PS2 so I used the Svideo connection from the side inputs. That is pretty convenient. I tested the TV with Tigerwoods 2005 and Madden 2005. I did not notice any blur effects or pixelization. The response time seemed sufficient to me. My son and I will definitely be playing some games on this bad boy so I will keep you informed. Next step is to try my PC with Doom3.
I have not programmed the remote with all my components yet. I will attempt to set this up tonight time permitting. I will keep everyone up to date on my experiences with this unit. Your reviews really helped me make a decision so hopefully I can return the favor to some poor sole. So far I am happy with the purchase.
