    "good price but bad tv"

    by scionguy05 on August 21, 2006

Pros: cheap price, nice stlye look

Cons: bad tv, grainy screen, dead spots, and poor sound

Summary: i work at one of the wholesalers that sell this tv. this by far the most returned tv we sell, theres nothing wrong with wanting to save a little money on a tv but this thing is a horrible tv. it doest last long before the screen starts showing dead spots, the sound is horrible! and the picture qualty isnt even that good on hd programing, we return about 10 of these tv's weekly, if u buy this tv make sure u buy the extended warrenty you will need it!

OK, scionguy, you nailed the fact that with the low price comes substandard quality, but what people also should know is about Vizio's abysmal customer service:

I ordered the 32 in and this has been a terrible experience.

Delays, broken TV delivered, rude nasty reps, accounts "lost in the system" - anything that can go wrong, they will get it wrong.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and stay away from these clowns.

and I have to say, it is one of the more reliable plasma units we've ever had. I've carried Maxent, Toshiba, Panasonic, Philips, Vizio, LG, etc. and it is one of the best for the money. Keep in mind, there are only a few companies that produce panels for plasma sets so many of them share the same components. There will always be a bad apple in any bunch but I can tell you I've had more trouble with Philips than any other brand of plasma.

Although this reviewers insight is slightly helpful, he doesn't mention how many sets "don't" get returned, how many are sold... so the data is a little hard to discern.
It would be a bit more of a respectable review if:
    1) he actually owned it and was able to review it personally,
    2) learned to use capital letters and avoiding the very "pre-teen" habit of using lower case letters and instant messenger shorthand... makes him not very credible.
