"can't do better for the money" on by disneydriver

    Pros: great picture, nice design

    Cons: poor sound, fan noise

Summary: for 2599.00 (costco coupon price) i don't think you can get a better plasma. there are enough inputs, contrary to other reviews i think the design looks great, and the picture is beautiful.there is a problem with the fans, but i contacted vizio and was told the have a solution and repairs would start early esptember.you have to be realistic when buying a tv. there are better pictures sexier designs, better sound and all the inputs you could possibly want on other tv's but be prepared to spend at least 3500.00 to 6000.00 dollars.its like buying a car , you can't have all the options and expect to pay nothing for them

in my original review one of the few cons i had was fan noise. i'm happy to say that this problem has been resolved by excellent customer service from vizio. i contacted vizio by e-m , they responded by sending a service tech to replace the fans . now it is wisper quiet. as far as the other cons listed in the cnet review, i don't need a hd tuner or a cable card. as a result i would have to raise my rating to a 10

"LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT AND A CHEAP DATE WOW" on by partyatmarios-2075959698628718

Pros: HDMI X 2 10000:1 CONTRAST RATIO AFFORDABLE

Cons: FAULTY FANS ON SOME MODELS

Summary: BEST DEAL EVER AT COSTCO GOT IT FOR $2599, Picture quality is wonderful. Built in speakers sound good. Latest in single scan technology from LG. Best manufacture date July. Has a image cleaner to reduce the chance of burn in. Very heavy to carry upstairs and bezel is delicate. To make a long story short I put alot of time in researching this model and I have a new best friend on my wall that works perfect. Thank you Vizio Inc. Keep up the good work and thanks for making a product that is more affordable for those of us who do not earn all that much.

"Very good bargain" on by storrey

    Pros: Great picture, enough inputs

    Cons: Heavy as hell.

Summary: Just bought the unit at Costco and am extremely pleased. Great picture. I did put it through its paces last night with Sin City. I'm not sure whether it was the movie or the TV, but some of the white areas had some green tinting. That movie's not exactly fair to use on a plasma though. Will have to post an update later......

I am still loving my new plasma. Unfortunately the picture is so nice that I often find myself couchbound.....football and basketball look great in HD. I am getting the fans replaced. Vizio was great about getting back to me about the warranty and they have arranged for a technician to come to my house to replace the fans. For a no-name company, they have made a great TV for the masses. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great deal on a 50" plasma....I waited a long time and did quite a bit of research before plunking down $2500 at Costco.

I've had the TV for about 5 months now and it is still working flawlessly. The fan noise has been eliminated with an easy warranty service call. This TV has all of the connections you could want- I am using one of the composite connections for my DVD Player and one of the HDMI connections for the Comcast DVR Box. You should ONLY use composite or HDMI--otherwise you will never realize the true capabilties of HDTV. You haven't experienced football until you've seen it in its 1080i glory.

    "Outstanding Value!" on by joe123987

    Pros: Picture Quality

    Cons: Minimal Speakers

Summary: After many months of research I had decided to go into deep debt and spend $4,500 on a Panasonic TH-50PX500U. Then I stumbled into COSTCO last week and saw the VIZIO P50HDM on sale for $2,499. It was right next to a Panasonic costing twice as much and I really couldn't tell the difference in picture quality. It took about 5 secs. to decide to buy the Vizio and I have not regretted that decision. I set it up using my High Definition Time Warner cable box using a HDMI cable and then used the second HDMI plug to connect my DVD player. Wow! Picture quality, colors, etc. were better than anything I could have expected and especially for $2,500. I have read reviews about the fan noise but Vizio must have fixed the problem because I can't even tell that the TV has fans.

I borrowed the following setting from a professional reviewer and they work great: Dynamic Contrast and Fleshtone - off; Select Movie Mode then adjust brightness to 43, contrast to 40, saturation to 46 and sharpness to 11.
This TV is a great product - I would buy it again without a second thought.

"Nothing is perfect but this is very close" on by canonus

Pros: HD Picture Quality, 2 HDMI Inputs, RGB (computer input ), analog inputs

Cons: Bezel could be a bit nicer, Speakers cannot be removed.

Summary: Bought this set at Costco after 3 months of extensive research. Read all reviews on top rated 50" plasmas (Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi, Pioneer Etc.), then went to audition them carefully with HD, DVD, and SD sources. I use Direct TV HD, and a Toshiba SD-K850SU DVD that up-converts the picture to 720p or 1080i. You have to see it to believe it.

This sets picture quality compares to sets costing up to $2000 more...I'm not kidding. The secret to the performance is as follows: Use the HDMI inputs, Get a good $100- $150 line conditioner such as APC (In the Computer Department of your local retailer) this will give you clean AC and clear any Ghosting, or artifacts caused by AC line noise and leave you with a pristine picture. Secondly: Set Image settings at 50% for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue to 0 and sharpness to 12. Turn on the video noise reduction, and set Flesh tone to Off, leave dynamic contrast on 0. Take off the Zoom function and leave it on Wide. Remember More is not necessarily better.

One this is done this monitor will be able to take on all comers in regards to picture quality...and I mean all. I hope this is helpful to all who are looking for a Quality
50" Plasma for less than any good 42".
I business owner and do not promote for
anyone, I'm just a very satisfied customer

P.S. In regards to warranty, I purchased a 5 yr. plan online for inhome service from Vizio for $349.00. If they cannot fix it they will replace the unit.
