Pros + Sound is pretty good
+ Nice pictures
+ HD content just as good
+ Very easy to setup
+ Remote is pretty intuitive
Cons Not have for cons
Summary This is my first HDTV, although I spent a lot of time looking at many models and other people's tv's before I bought this one. I originally wanted one that hooked up to the internet, but I settled on this one. Still, I wish this TV had those capabilities.
The TV itself was very easy to set up. It came with a pretty easy to read manual with nice pictures. The remote is pretty intuitive - doesn't have a billion buttons like many of them do, but it has all of the buttons you need.
I don't have cable TV, so I hooked this up to my Wii to test it out. The Wii only has 480i, so it was no where near taking advantage of the full HD resolution of this TV, but the Wii looked great. I streamed some Netflix movies over the Wii, and they looked excellent. Same with Amazon's streaming service - the picture looked great via the VGA cable off my computer.
I recently purchased an Over the Air antenna, which picked up about 17 local channels. A few of them are in HD, and when I saw this, I was simply stunned. This tv displays HD content just as good, if not better than some of the bigger name brand (ie Sony, Samsung, LG) panels out there. It looked simply stunning.
Sound is pretty good - not as good as my surround sound, but good for built-in speakers. Certainly some of the better built-in speakers I've heard.
One little thing that I like is the Visio logo on the front - it glows orange when the TV is off, and white when the TV is on and/or warming up. I've found this useful compared to other TV's, where you have to guess whether they're on or off.
I haven't tired any HDMI devices yet, but that will be next - Blu Ray player is the next thing I'm going to purchase.
So, overall, I'm very impressed with the TV. Given the chance to purchase this or another TV again, I would purchase this one. It does everything I need it to, has great quality, and was a very good price.
*** P.S. If you will buy this TV I suggest you have compare price before you decide at: www.amazon.com/gp/*************?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%****%2Foffer-listing%2FB003LL4UR4%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Ddp_olp_new_map%26condition%3Dnew&tag=***************&********=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
Pros Good picture quality, very good layout for side HDMI input,USB ports, JAG wheel. Prefer using it as monitor vs laptop's monitor via rear HDMI port. Adequate to better-than-average input and ouput ports for both audio and video. VERY useful PIP system
Cons Sound quality-mediocre (but have never relied on any TV alone for good sound);supplement sound with a good sound bar and/or home theatre system. Remote control a little ?sluggish?
Summary Overall, like the utility of the set, not to mention a decent picture (actually compared it next to the leading brands that start with an "S" and "P" and that was a deciding factor). Set would be easy for a non-techy to start up but satisfy the needs for more advanced on a limited budget. JAG wheel on L side of set gives quick, easy access to immediate controls. Pictire-In-Picutre feature on this set is implemented very well...and quite useful (the PIP also conveniently hides those annoying translucent network logos)
Sound quality is only average, and recommend using the optical digital audio output if you are a purist or enjoy surround sound, floor shaking realism. Would I recommend this set to others? - Yes. Would I buy this set again, knowing what I know? - Yes.
Pros Compared to my Panasonic 58" Viera Plasma, this Vizio Razor M420NV has just as great of picture, superb black levels, and overall picture quality! The menu is simple to use and it is easy to set up. Thin. Stylish. Quality craftsmanship all around.
Cons None that I have discovered. The sound is even decent if you don't use a home theater with surround sound speakers. Though that is like buying a Ferrari and then using cheap tires, low octane fuel and never driving over 30 mph.
Summary Great TV for a small to medium-sized room. Very thin and light to mount on the wall. There is absolutely no reason to NOT purchase this Vizio HDTV if you need a 42" sized TV for a specific room/wall.
Pros One thing that everyone failed to note is that this television is beautiful. The picture quality is better than the high priced brands costing three times more. Whenever a friend drops by, he or she remarks on how beautiful and crisp picture the picture i
Cons The sound is just OK. The TRUSound does nothing but lowering the sound. I had to play around with the settings (I called Visio and they gave the best settings) to get the picture just right. The remote is nothing to write home about..
Summary I would recommed this television for anyone looking for an incredible picture for not much money.
Pros Sharp picture quality, great vibrant colors, great price.
Cons Audio isn't the best, but can be easily fixed.
Summary It took me a long time to decide what Lcd/Led I wanted to buy. I bought a samsung 40" LCD because I was told samsung, sony, sharp and panasonic were the way to go. This vizio caught my eye before I bought the samsung. I brought the samsung home and I swear that this vizio wouldn't leave my mind. Compared to all the brands I mentioned, this vizio's picture quality stood out the most wen I was looking around and comparing them side by side. So after I had the samsung for a week, I was dying of regret for not buying the vizio. The samsung had good picture quality, but not great. My girlfriend isn't one to notice small details like these, but once I brought the vizio home (after I exchanged it for the samsung...a pain, but it was worth it) she instantly fell in love with this tv. I'm one who's obsessed with specs. The samsung cost me almost $200 more. It had the same exact specs. Well...the samsung had a 0.5 ms response time advantage, but who in the world can notice a 0.5 ms response time difference? If you thought to yourself "I can" god will be striking you dead tonight. hehe.Games on my ps3 look and play amazing. Watching a Blu ray will make you understand why blu ray players are the future. The 120hz looks natural and the 100,000 contrast ratio combined with the led back light is more than enough to satisfy you vibrant-picture lovers I'm really happy with this tv. It's and amazing buy and it wont break your bank. The problem with this world is that us as human beings can be obsessed with the already known "name brands", and we pay a lot more money for the name alone. It's silly really. Anyway...I suggest you pick up this tv if you're thinking about it. Vizio is a bit new to the lcd/led/plasma playing field, but they're really leaving their mark and they only seem to be getting better and better.
