Pros Outstanding picture, very good add-ons, price is very good
Cons Extended warranty would be wise as well as ANY HDTV.
Summary I've read through many reviews from different websites on this HDTV and was surprised to find only three here on Cnet for this TV. I usually don't post on these sites (actually, this is my first) but, I wanted to raise a good product when I see one. For $1,248, you can own a very good large screen HDTV. The only down fall is this same "shut down" problem that I've been hearing about. This is a typical problem with all HDTVs and here is the best explaination that I found on a Walmart review. I have copied and pasted it here to save you time.
I bought my M550SV back in April. While the TV has great features and excellent picture, I cannot get passed the fact that my TV turns itself off. I have contacted Vizio several time about it, and their response is that the TV was designed to do this and it is not a fault. I find it unacceptable that the TV needs to turn itself off nearly ten times per day.
Vizio also said that the problem is related to the audio settings of the devices connected to the TV. The devices connected to the TV must have PCM audio output settings, otherwise the TV gets upset and turns itself off randomly. One way to possibly reduce the occurences of the TV shutting off (not a guaranteed solution) is to give up the quality of resolution that you paid for when you bought the set and replace your HDMI connections with component connections.
To resolve this issue, Vizio has informed its consumers that an update will be downloaded to correct the firmware. However, there is no set timeframe for this to happen even though the problem that Vizio says "is not a problem" has been known for several months.
Just make sure you get an extended warranty on all Hi-Tech expensive purchases. These items have many parts from many different companies and are not perfect.
Superb Picture quality

Cons Lacking leagcy video inputs
-No S-video input
-Combination compoent and composite video inputs
Number of VIA Apps require paid subscriptions
Summary Based on the price $1248 @ Walmart it was the best deal for a 55" LCD-LED internet ready HDTV. After having a 42" energy hog plasma HDTV for 4 years, I researched the various 55" brands and narrowed it down to Samsung and Vizio for overall picture quality and included options.
So far my family and myself are happy with my selection.
Pros Great picture
Cons Will not stay on. Must unplug from wall each time.
Summary Purchased from walmart for $1298. Now walmart price is $1498. Must return. Vizio call center has tried repeatedly to resolve over phone. No luck.
