I bought the P50 a little over a year ago. In the first weak I noticed the fan sound, that I was expecting, and I contacted Vizio. They sent me a new one within a weak. Just before the 1-year warrenty expired, the replacement set developed a line of dead pixels. Called Vizio, explained the issue, and they sent me another replacement. I was out of town when it was delivered, but turned out they sent a defective set that did not work. Called again and they sent me a new one and even redirected the shipment when I moved to new state when it was in transit. Oh, the latter replacments were also upgrades to the VP50, with the internal HD tuner. So, there customer service has been great in terms of living up to warrenty, which is why I paid the $350 to extend the warrenty another 5 years. I have no issues with this company whatsoever!

Getting a Vizio fixed should be very easy since they come with a nice one year warranty and if you purchased it from a place like Costco the warranty is doubled. Most stores currently selling the Vizio product (sears, K-Mart, Costco, Wallmart, Sam's and BJ's)will gladly accept a return of the television and exchange it for a new one or his cash back.
since the television was not yours it should really be him that presents this issue here since he would have all the correct details. -
