"When it works, it's a good picture"
Pros: price and picture quality
Cons: dead at 95 days after purchase, stoneage warranty serrvice
Summary: Bought it because for the money the picture was comparable to sets costing hundreds more. For the first 95 days it worked fine, then it just quit working. Black screen, no menu's no sound. Called the membership retailer I purchased it from, but they changed their open return period, to now 90 days. They did put me in touch with a Vizio warranty rep who assigned a service ticket No. and said the warranty repair person should call me within a week and if not for me to call them, then proceeded to give me an 800 No. to call. That was an alarm bell in my head. After 24 hours the repair person called said he was ordering parts. He had not seen the set but was ordering the parts anyway. Another alarm bell went off in my head. I asked him if this was a common problem and he said, no the failure rate within warranty for this set was between 2.5 - 3.5%. A week later the repairman called, said he had the part. He arrived promptly and replaced the power supply board. The set still didn't operate. The repair man said he would order the logic mainboard next and that it would take another week or SO to arrive. I'm in that second parts order limbo week now. I'll update when and if the set works again or whether they just replace it. I'm not sure I would buy another Vizio product based on A) my experience with it failing 95 days after purchase. Admittedly that can and does happen but, B) Vizio's warranty response time is extremely slow and you have to wonder why is that?
