"Nice Kitchen HDTV!" on by Harry Wild
Pros: Nice Size, Built and Amazing Surround Sound!
Cons: Cheap looking remote
Summary: I just purchase this set at Costco and compare it with Samsung 940mw from Office Depot. I like this set over the Samsung because the size is smaller while the screen is 20" vs. Samsung 19" and it has 16:9 instead of 16:10. Because of it smaller size by 1.5 height shorter; I can move it to the back of the wall and still have a clear view of the screen; while the Samsung top of the frame was hidden and I had to move it 5 inches to have the same view. The overall picture quality and specs between the two are almost identical.
Price was $369 for the Samsung. Vizio was $400.00.
It does not have the Xbrite feature found in Sony, NEC or Sharp screens but I did not find it was worth the extra $100- $130 more for a plastic screen coating. If I wanted it in the future I can buy it and put it in for $30.00 plus shipping.
All in all, I am happy; it much more detailed, brighter and nicer then my Sony Wega 20". I am still using Dish Analog signal but looks great. DVDs are very good.
The Vizio sound is like threater quality. It is just unbelievable that this small TV can product such surround sound! -
"Simply Amazing" on by Bruce D Ranger
Pros: Great HDTV and computer monitor with PIP
Cons: Would be nice IF a 26" version was available
Summary: Simply Amazing
I have purchased lots of electronics over the years and already had 3 HDTVs, but this HDTV is the most versatile gizmo that I have ever seen/used.
This email is being composed while I am watching & listening to ESPN HD in a PIP in the lower right hand corner of the display.
The 20" widescreen format and the built-in clear QAM tuner sold me on getting the VX20L before I even saw it at a local Costco.
Previously I had a small LCD monitor connected to my PC and a small analog TV sitting at the side.
Now I have one widescreen display for doing spreadsheets, surfing, and emailing while watching HDTV in a window.
All in one, a great product at a great price.
It is the only HDTV less than 26" that I could find anywhere. -
"What more could you ask for in a small TV" on by seattym
Pros: HDTV Tuner, beautiful design, slim bezel
Cons: video and audio connectors are a bit difficult to reach
Summary: I have been looking for this TV for 2 years. We remodeled our kitchen and set aside a spot for a small TV - and this is perfect. It has a built-in HDTV tuner, so we can watch OTA HDTV shows for free, and we also have it connected to our Dish Network receiver over coax so the kids can watch programs recorded on the DVR.
The design is clean and crisp - perfectly matching our kitchen, or any other updated kitchen. It is small for a 20" TV. Looks like a picture frame. I highly recommend this. Plus it is from Costco. So no worries about returning it later if I decide otherwise in a few months.
I have used Vizio LCD computer monitors for years and have never had a problem, so I don't expect any with this TV.
Thanks Vizio! -
"Nice LCD HDTV for the price" on by dre390
Pros: very sharp picture ,easy to set up
Cons: sound could be better
Summary: Brought at Costco. Was inpressed with all you got with television for price.Very clear and sharp picture, very easy to set up.
The best part was it picked up most of the HDTV channels on our cable system with out having to get a box. -
"Perfect HDTV for the Kitchen!" on by PhillyBoy919
Pros: Impressive picture, connectivity options, appearance, low profile, stereo audio separation
Cons: black levels could be deeper
Summary: If you have a small area in need of a vibrant HD TV or monitor, then this is your TV. The picture, even by modern standards, is phenomenal with an HD source. Standard def signals, as with most hi-def displays, are passable but unspectacular.
The sound you get from this little thing is a bit surprising. Not that its theater sound, the quality is about par for the course with a 20" LCD, but its the separation of the channels that will surprise you. Given enough room, the "virtual surround" setting will actually project fairly far to either side and will at times startle you.
I have my VX20L in the kitchen at the end of a built-in breakfast bar, hooked up to a Comcast HD box with a DVI to HDMI cable. The position of the TV makes it viewable to the entire kitchen and eating area, thanks to the wide viewing angles.
In addition to using it as a TV, I am putting together a mini form-factor PC to be used as a kitchen PC (read: email and internet only), which will be hooked up via the VGA port. A Windows Media Center extender is also being added to hook it into my Media server for movies and DVR.
All said, I'd definitely buy this again and highly recommend it anywhere you need a small and stylish HD set. I purchased at Costco with a $50 off coupon.
