"Great for the Money" on by grg1901
Pros: Vivid HD Picture - Reds were not true but I was impressed with the overall quality of the picture given what I Spent. Intuitive set up. Plenty of connection options. Doubles as a great computer monitor. Fantastic fit and finish.
Cons: For a flat panel TV this one is rather thick - almost 5 and a half inches - add a mount and your at 9 inches from the wall. Non HD feed is not great, but on par with any of my other HD sets.
Summary: I would recommend this - especially if you can find it for under $300 - I picked one up at Costco for $299. When you figure that they extend the manufacturers warranty for up to two years - it's really a no brainer. The built in tuners picked up every local HD channel via my standard cable connection (no box required). This is important because I don't want to shell out 10 bucks a month to Comcast for another HD Box. Granted I don't get every HD channel that I get with the box from Comcast - but it's in a spare bedroom so not a big deal. I was impressed that it grabbed all the channels that it did given the fact that my more expensive Panasonic Plasma doesn't.
With all this said, I am taking my back because of the thickness of the unit - given my application in a home office and secondary use as a computer monitor above a shallow desk, I went with something that was about two inches thinner. -
"Fantastic!! won't give it a 5 star because of sound." on by larimarstar
Pros: Easy controls on remote. Fast response. Auto detects components when you turn them on plus you can label components. Lots of connections, including optical output and computer( VGA). Beautiful right out of the box.
Cons: Sound not great. Some of the buttons on remote are just "decoration".
Summary: I absolutely love this TV. I have been waiting years for HDTV to drop to a price I can justify spending on a non necessity. I shopped around Best Buy, Sears, Circuit City, online etc., and I saw really good prices on TVs with popular brands but believe it or not this brand I knew nothing about turned out to be the best looking in the price range and although for $ 100 more I could have gotten a "better" name brand with bigger size screen 32" I opted for this one because of its sharpness and beauty. The image quality was just a world of difference. I was also pleasantly surprised when I was able to get crystal clear reception with a cheap antenna. I haven't ordered cable yet and honestly I might not its just gorgeous and I picked up a couple extra channels with over the air signal. I am in awe how rich the colors are how alive everything is. Even at full price you cannot go wrong with this TV. I 've seen other HDTV that do not look all that great.
In the near future I will be buying a 37" or 42" and I may very well give up the other brands I had in mind and just go for a Westinghouse.
An odd thing did happen, I bought two of these one as a gift one for me. The packaging was very different and the one I gave away had better sound also the remote controls were different although only in looks the WORKING functions are the same on both.
So far I haven't noticed any other difference and thankfully sound its not an issue for me since I do have a surround sound system. Also sound varies from program to program anyhow and its not exactly bad it just doesn't go too high but then again this TV its only equipped with 20 watts and it is on the low end price wise so one can't ask for more.
That being said you won't go wrong with this TV image quality is more important and it has it. Buy and enjoy. My son is very excited to know he will inherit it for his game system. Everyone in the family loves it.
My sister who received the other one stayed home all day to watch TV something she never does because she is very busy but she was in awe. -
"Absolutely love it!" on by GoddessPSU
Pros: picture quality, sound synchronization, easy to adjust quality
Cons: overhead picture quality, setup wizard unintelligible
Summary: I've been looking for a <30" television for my small living room for about a year and a half--most 26" have been priced about $450-$600, and I came close to buying some generic model on sale for $399 at Best Buy, but the quality was really substandard, so I waited. Thankfully!
The Westinghouse SK-26H730S was priced $459 regularly at Target, and I got it on Black Friday for $299, so saving $159 always makes a difference, but this tv would still be great if we had paid full price! If I'd been smart, I'd have brought extra people along and replaced every tv in my house!
Setting up the connections was easy enough--my husband plugged it all in, but when I went back later and looked, I could've figured it out too. The on-screen wizard wouldn't detect anything until I turned each component (digital cable box, 5.1 DVD player, 2 game stations) off and on. That could've been written in the directions a little more clearlyas I spent close to an hour in "Wizard" mode! Adjusting hue, brightness, backlight, etc is really easy once you get used to it--the defaults were just a little dark, but easily adjusted.
Overall, the picture quality is just stunning, and it's easy to shift between a standard (squarish) view, a full (widescreen) view and an overscan view, which doesn't distort the way the full view does, but does cut off words at the top and bottom (not good for gaming). Having the option is really nice and it just takes a touch of the remote button. We played a digitally remastered Star Wars movie just to see what the viewing quality was like, and we were all really blown away!
Our old television (good riddance!) required that we turn the television sound down when using the 5.1 sound due to a slight delay that was really annoying! So far I haven't noticed any problems with sound synchronization while playing a DVD or wii or PS2, so I was grateful.
I would strongly recommend including this tv in any comparison even against the tv giants; even for the regular store price, it was still an excellent value. -
"Best PC monitor I've ever had." on by ScottyPDX
Pros: Very sharp picture, vibrant color, easily customizable.
Cons: Built-in sound sucks, but no need for sound as a monitor, otherwise, outputs take care of that.
Summary: Price is right, size is right, picture is flawless, what more can I say?
