"would be excellent.. but" on by cozmogeek

Pros: Great picture quality, 1080p on component inputs

Cons: HDMI doesn't work with hd-dvd player (HD-A20), requires unplugging once per week

Summary: I picked this tv up the day it came out and was happy for a while. I soon realized that the Toshiba HD-A20 does not work with this tv's HDMI inputs, which forces you to use component video, which is limited to 1080i, which defeats part of the purpose of getting a 1080p tv. I also found that this set will 'lock up' about once a week and require me to pull the power cable to get it to become responsive again.

The video quality is great however. If only there was a firmware update to fix the hdmi and power/lockup issues I could highly recommend it to others.

"PRICE TO PERFORMANCE CHAMP!!!" on by ALCHEMIST111

Pros: Excellent connectivity options. Good color reproduction. Great progressive scan and upconversion performance. Excellent response time. Good contrast ratio. Full 1080P performance.

Cons: Pedestrian design. Thick bezel. Flimsy stand. Mediocre sound. Clunky remote.

Summary: This is an excellent TV for the price. I compared the performance of this TV with the Samsung LN-T4665F and was amazed to see it give up very little to the highly rated Samsung. HD looks amazing and SD isn't too bad either. Color reproduction is good, but tends to be a bit skewed towards green right out of the box. The TV has several options to save user settings and once tweaked, it performed amazingly well. Skin tone reproduction was excellent after tweaking it and then I was really able to crank up color saturation. There was no ghosting when watching the last race scene in "The Fast and the Furious". The contrast ratio practically is quite good but low contrast detail is sometimes lost especially in darker areas. Of course the Sony KDL-40XBR2 doesn't have to worry about this TV usurping it's title as the style champ. The thick 2 inch bezel running around the screen is quite hard on the eyes. The stand on which the monitor sits is quite flimsy, but serviceable. Westinghouse REALLY needs to rethink the remote control supplied with this TV. It's a clunky beast and is quite hard to navigate. On the plus side, with so many connectivity options to choose from you're never going to run out of ports. It performs excellently as a computer monitor, but you'll need a DVI to HDMI adapter to get the best. The VGA connection is good and does provide a good image, but with a DVI to HDMI adapter connection, fonts on the screen just jumped out and bit me. Haven't tried gaming on this screen yet, but I'm sure it'll be just fine. I highly recommend this HDTV. At this price you can't go wrong.

"I don't see the need to spend the extra grand" on by lbdavis

Pros: Price, 1080p HD picture, price, many inputs, price, 47", price.

Cons: few, unless you are a true videophile

Summary: After MUCH research, I bought this TV from Best Buy for under $1500. I got it home, put it on the wall, plugged everything in and then turned it on. The first images to be shown were the opening scene to LOTR 2, in 480p and dolby 5.1. It was the cinemagraphic kick in the pants I was hoping for. Holy cow. And this was only 480p!!

I use it mostly for sports and video games, all of which are HD, and movies out of my Xbox as 480p. They all look fantastic!! I know you can get better quality pictures out there, but I don't see much to complain about here. Picture settings can be tweaked to get black levels dark(crank down "brightness" and turn up "contrast") and skin tones perfect. Xbox360 is a gamer's dream on this. (though I wish the Elite were cheaper so I could use it's HDMI output). It works quite well as a monitor and it does reasonably well with SD cable signals as well.

Yea, the remote's less than perfect, but who doesn't "feel" their way around their remote with time anyway.

Yea, some other brands have sexier styling, but this hardly looks bad. I kinda prefer the matte finish to the "in-your-face" polished look.

And oh, did I mention the price?

I'd say pick up the sweet bargain or just put off your purchase for another year and buy a laser TV.

"Into Eternal Sleep Mode" on by ekei

Pros: Price per size is great.

Cons: If this set falls into a coma it may never wake.

Summary: Not a bad TV for the money/size. But this set has one large drawback. If, while in standby mode, the set experiences power outage or other current fluctuation, it may never wake from sleep mode. Impossible to believe that there's no reset method other than unplugging the TV and hoping that memory clears. My set appears to have gone into eternal sleep. Nothing can rouse it.

"DO NOT PURCHASE WESTINGHOUSE TVs" on by BennyBug

    Pros: Cheap Literally

    Cons: Extremely Poor Quality

Summary: !!!DO NOT BUY WESTINGHOUSE TELEVISIONS!!!
You may have seen poor reviews before and thought, that's just one persons opinnion it can't be that bad. That's what I used to think. Then my LCD broke, I had it fixed, it broke again. Called Westinghouse and got no help. So I did the research and found that Westinghouse LCDs are breaking all over place. From what I've found you have about a 1 in 3 chance a Westinghouse LCD will operate properly for year before having problems, major problems.
Don't Waste your Money, there are plenty of other great T.V.s on the market for just a little more. If you have to get a Westinghouse GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, you'll need it!!!
I you read this and aren't convinced, do the research, read other reviews, check all of them not just the the three on top!!
