"I don't see the need to spend the extra grand"
Pros: Price, 1080p HD picture, price, many inputs, price, 47", price.
Cons: few, unless you are a true videophile
Summary: After MUCH research, I bought this TV from Best Buy for under $1500. I got it home, put it on the wall, plugged everything in and then turned it on. The first images to be shown were the opening scene to LOTR 2, in 480p and dolby 5.1. It was the cinemagraphic kick in the pants I was hoping for. Holy cow. And this was only 480p!!
I use it mostly for sports and video games, all of which are HD, and movies out of my Xbox as 480p. They all look fantastic!! I know you can get better quality pictures out there, but I don't see much to complain about here. Picture settings can be tweaked to get black levels dark(crank down "brightness" and turn up "contrast") and skin tones perfect. Xbox360 is a gamer's dream on this. (though I wish the Elite were cheaper so I could use it's HDMI output). It works quite well as a monitor and it does reasonably well with SD cable signals as well.
Yea, the remote's less than perfect, but who doesn't "feel" their way around their remote with time anyway.
Yea, some other brands have sexier styling, but this hardly looks bad. I kinda prefer the matte finish to the "in-your-face" polished look.
And oh, did I mention the price?
I'd say pick up the sweet bargain or just put off your purchase for another year and buy a laser TV.
