"It is hard to love yet easy to like." on by UncleOalof
Pros: The new d-pad works much better than the old disk (though any other controllers d-pad does as well), included play and charge kit, better feel to the analog sticks.
Cons: High price, the new colors make the device feel like I am seeing it in greyscale, new d-pad and kit should be standard features on controller range.
Summary: For the kind of money they are asking the controller won't find many homes apart from those serious about their d-pad Xbox games or collectors of tech toys. On the one hand you get a well rounded Xbox controller than finally comes with a better d-pad and charge kit. On the other you feel like you just paid too much when looking at it in comparison to others.
My first reaction is to compare it to other Xbox controllers, what does it do that they don't? Not a heck of a lot apart from that really cool disk rotation. And then looking at my PS3 controller I really felt like Microsoft is ripping me off when comparing features. But then when you hold it and use it, it almost makes it worth it.
This is a hard to review device. When looking at it using facts and figures you wouldn't bother buying it, it isn't good value for money. But it has a bit of that cool factor that restores some points when you use it. This is why I gave it 2 and 1/2 stars. It is very in the middle and would be much better for those who truly like the new d-pad and greyscale coloring. -
"good controller" on by techfuz
Pros: good quality nice ergonomics removeable battery
Cons: transforming d pad came late. instead of making so many extra controllers maybe they can be made compatible to future systems like wiiU
Summary: microsoft has the best first party controller ever made. I like the battery being removeable

"How it should've been from the beginning. Perfect." on by jizad825
Pros: The D-pad is perfect. Much more precise. Controller and buttons color look sharp. Very original.
Cons: The only thing to make this absolute perfection would be to have the battery built into it(i.e. Playstation 3 controller).
Summary: If you want the best possible controller available, then you want this.

"I still have no clue what purpose it serves." on by Nicktyelor
Pros: D-Pad? Looks cool.
Cons: Color scheme is cool looking but lackluster and the absence of color is bland (just like what Apple did to iTunes (boring)). I honestly still don't know what's so great about the D-pad. Ridiculous price.
Summary: I think until I buy one of these, I won't get the frikin D-pad. I sort of get how it raises up into separate direction buttons instead of the circle, but is this really necessary?? Also the lack of colored buttons is probably confusing to some people who rely on colors rather than the letters (yeah yeah I know about people who are color-blind). I just don't think this thing is worth the $65 price tag. I could buy a pretty decent game or two crappy games with that much, or 3 used games (buy 2 get 1 free) when I shop at game stop before December 13th, haha (no I am not advertising them).
