    "No Product Support-Do Not Buy!!"

    by vfreeze520 on October 22, 2006

    Pros: The box looks nice

Cons: 1.) No customer support. RedOctane will not help you and does not stand behind its product. They take your money and you are OUT OF LUCK!

Summary: I bought a RedOctane Ignition 3.0 (a later version of this dancepad), and have never had the opportunity to use it. The dancepad is supposed to be used with several connectors, including USB to connect to a PC. After attempting to connect this dancepad for hours, I sent emails to RedOctane asking them to send me drivers to properly install the dancepad. RedOctane replied to two emails, telling me that their dancepads are "PlugnPlay" and do not require drivers, and that I should update my BIOS and make sure my computer had all its updates. My computer is up to date, and upon plugging this Dancepad into 4 different computers I could still not get it to work. I called Dell customer support, and also spent time with another computer company, who both told me the same thing. PlugnPlay does not mean that a device doesn't need a driver!!! Almost every device to come out in the past ten years is PlugnPlay, which means that you do not have to turn off the computer for the computer to recognize the device. Despite what RedOctane will tell you-all devices plugged into your computer require drivers. I called RedOctane and told them this (I had to search for the phone number on the web), and they told me they couldn't help me, that their product should play automatically. I was shocked. I have never seen so little commitment from a company to their product before. They offer no customer support for their products, and do not stand behind their dancepads at all. After research the problem on the internet, I found that many people have had this problem. This dancepad is not worth the trouble, nor is any RedOctane device. Save your money.

You're obviously doing it wrong. You plug the pad in, and run StepMania/In The Groove PC, and then map the buttons in Config KeyJoy mappings in the options menu (it maps automatically on ITGPC). It doesn't just instantly work when you plug it in.
