"works great"on by dendovne
Pros everything works great, good reception, easy set up, etc...
Cons the att software
Summary Some people have a problem with poor signal strength but there is a way to adjust the power for it, i have it on 1st floor in apartment and can use it with my laptop in neighbors aprtment on the 3rd floor across the hall, so thats 4 walls and 2 floors it goes through no problem on the default strength
Pros well, its ATT new modem !! Setup is simple, but really can't do anything other than run in in default mode and hope it runs, if your're lucky.
Cons Does not work consistently with my MacBook Pro 2.16GHz. It does not behave normally doing basic stuff !! Loading webpages, the browser sits there for several minutes and partially loads the page with multiple errors
Summary I upgraded to ATT 6Mbps DSL. All of a sudden my 2wire 1000SW started acting like I've described above. After several days of messing with it, I purchased a Linksys router and configured the 1000SW in Bridge mode ( made a pass through) the problem went away !! Browsers ( Safari & FireFox 3.x) worked fine again.
Contacted ATT suipport -- After much time spent on the phone I got to 2Wire's Level-3 support. They could not help diagnose the problem at all. Their conclusion was there must a problem with the wiring !!! so they sent a tech to check it out.
Wiring and Sync signal is fine - I demostrated to the tech the problem: When I use the new 2wire 2701HG-B my internet connection is unreliable and with multiple errors on web page loading and on streaming audio -- I unplug everything and install the 1000SW in Bridged mode and use my Linksys wireless router, ALL works just fine.
The tech had no idea and was not able to solve the problem. He concluded there must be something wrong with my MAC !!! I'd say very unlikely based on my demostrations both the Tech who was here in person and to the Level-3 ATT / 2wire support people .. They all say their new modem is working just fine. I say NOT. It little messing around has taking over 8 hours of my time , and still not resolved. THANK YOU AT& T !!!!!!
Pros small and compact
Cons this modem does not work good I have had 9 of them replaced untill att replaced it with a netopia modem and so far it is still working. the power adapter for the 2wire modem got so hot that it was too hot to touch
Summary this modem is just poor quality and it is nothing but junk modems you are beer to use a motorola basic modem or a netopia all in one modem which they usally use for businesses
Pros Fits nicely in the trash
Cons Unreliable, slow, ripoff. Basically it's an over priced piece of trash made to over charge AT&T customers.
"Poor Downloads"on by TruthSociety
Pros Not a thing.
Cons Download for wireless and/or ethernet is unreliable and slow on occasion. Sometimes it takes for ever to download a web page. This is extremely annoying. Received a replacement then had a tec test the speed to the router. 2wire is the problem.
Summary Many users complaints. Don't Buy. Waste of money.
