"IT SUCKED. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!" on by DRTODDMD

Pros: CAN USE YOUR ARCHOS FOR ANOTHER FEATURE

Cons: ROUTING SOFTWARE WAS POOR. IT WOULD NOT ALWAYS USE HIGHWAYS WHEN THERE WAS A PARALELL ROAD W TRAFFIC LIGHTS. IT WOULD GAVE CRAZY INNACURATE ROUTES, MAKING U-TURNS, ETC AND YOU STILL HAD PROBLEMS REACHING YOUR DESTINATION. NOT RELIABLE!

Summary: I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. FURTHERMORE, ARCHOS GAVE ME A HARD TIME WHEN I INSISTED THEY ACCEPT THE RETURN OF THIS CRAPPY PRODUCT. THEY ANNOYINGLY ARGUED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A 15% RE-STOCKING FEE FOR THIS POORLY DESIGNED PRODUCT. I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THEM TO APPEASE THE DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMER AND GRATIOUSLY ACCEPT THE RETURN, RATHER THAN ARGUE WITH ME OVER $20. SO I FOREWARN ANYONE INTERESTED IN THEIR PRODUCT-GET A GARMIN OR TOM-TOM

"worked out of the box?" on by piwired

Pros: Easy to set up and get working, I like the functionality

    Cons: lousy customer service

Summary: activation codes, phone calls plus wait time to technical support, then it was up and running

"so far so good, been using for 1 day, no problems" on by pip123555

Pros: Like that I can extend the use of my 605. The screen is a good size, easy to see. directions are clear and easy to follow. Easy to set up and get working. easy to use. automatically switches to 'night' mode at dusk. beeps at me if I'm speeding.

Cons: Dislike the fact that the GPS has to be plugged in to the car to access the GPS functionality. All route inputting has to be done in the car rather than sitting at home to load routes.

Summary: Overall I like the functionality, the product installed straight from the box without any issues, went to the car and installed it and was up and running in a few minutes. System recalculates the route you are taking quickly and accurately if you deviate. Have turned on the functionality where it beeps at me to warn me if I am exceeding the speed limit, very useful round town! Ok so I've only been using the product today but seems to be working brilliantly.

"This product does not work out of the box" on by BillC129

Pros: None, to have pros the unit actually has to work

Cons: This product does not work out of the box due to an invalid map code supplied with the unit. Repeated emails to Support have gone unanswered.

Summary: This is a terrible product and the total lack of support is indicative of a company that has no respect for it's customers.

"Will Not load Maps properly, poor support" on by jpnll

Pros: Not much, since it does not work. :(

Cons: Due to some sort of license & code issues, while the GPS software loads and works, the maps will not.

Summary: Three re-loads, two activation codes, two phone calls plus wait time to technical support, and all technical support at ARCHOS can say is "we are working on it, we suggest you return the unit to the store you bought it for a refund."

One main reason I bought the 605 WiFi was so I could use the GPS addon. ARCHOS is clearly aware of the map loading issue, they themselves told me, but nobody from ARCHOS has been informing the merchants who sell these units that they have this defect.

Returned to the store and exchanged it for a dedicated GPS that worked perfectly out of the box.
