    Pros Easy set-up, accurate maps

Cons GPS isn't the most accurate, voice software gets annoying

Summary Hi there- I bought this software package for a road trip from Seattle, WA to Tucson, AZ to run on my laptop. I was very pleased with the software, the accuracy of the maps (even on the VERY remote towns), and the ability to customize the route. It tells me where the closest hotels and gas stations are, as well as grocery stores and restaurants. User interface isn't the best looking, but it is easy to figure out after a few hours. The GPS dongle uses USB and doesn't take very long at all to aquire satellites, but at times the GPS will show you as driving next to the road, or can cause you to miss a turn because it hasn't caught up to your true position.

Overall, an amazing value for the package. I highly recommend this to anyone with a laptop and doesn't want to spend a fortune installing a Tom-tom.

Pros um, none. If you're looking for something good, this aint it.

Cons ugly, barely worked, bad software, irritating voice

Summary Bought this at Fry's with rebates & discounts it came to $39.99. I was pretty happy until I had to install the three disks on my laptop, and then actually tried to use the thing. The Software is non-intuitive (nothing makes sense) and all the buttons are very small. It doesn't use the normal file menu at the top like every other windows software, so you're going against the norm right there. PLUS the thing couldn't track me on it's own maps! You'd think since DeLorme has been mapping like, FOREVER their software product would map decently... nope. The GPS couldn't even start me off at my home! It always had me off by about a mile until I got right to the freeway! The voice prompts missed the turns about 3/4 of the time, and didn't tell you that you were off course for a good half mile or more after you missed the turn it didn't tell you about (argh!).

I don't live in Podunk, middle-of-nowhere USA, I live in Anaheim, California! You know, Southern California? Disneyland? the O.C.? If it worked that bad around here, can you imagine what I would have to go through if I tried to use it in say, Kansas?

Besides that too, it's just a FUGLY yellow and stands out on your dash saying "NERD ON BOARD!"

seriously, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!

    Pros It worked well

Cons Software hard to use and hardware unreliablel

Summary I used it on one trip. The second time I tried to use it the Earthmate would not maintain contact with the satellites. Every time it was moved it reaquired the satellites. When I contacted DeLorme they told me that since it was over 90 days I would have to buy a new earthmate. That seemed like good money after bad.
