"Poor Performance"
2.0 starson by PatDPTPros: Easy to use, even without manual
Cons: Poor satelite connection
Summary: I have had this unit for about 24 hours (I admit, not long enough to make a proper assessment of the product.) and I have yet to establish a connection with the GPS network of satelites, despite many tries in various locations under wide-open blue skies. So far I have not been impressed by the performance.
However, the unit does provide an easy menu so that (even without the manual) you can guide yourself through all of the functions to ensure all the settings are correct and to your preference.
If my experience changes with the unit I will gladly update this evaluation...however, I am already shopping for another GPS unit.Updated
So I have had the Cobra 100 GPS for a few days now and my opinion has not changed. It still has a tough time acquiring a satellite signal even in wide-open spaces. I'm thikning of returning it, because I have just received a Magellan explorist 300 GPS receiver, and it so far BLOWS AWAY the Cobra 100 GPS receiver. The Magellan explorist 300 acquired a strong signal within a minute of powering-on, and it even works indoors and inside a moving vehicle. (The built-in detailed maps are also a plus, which the Cobra 100 does not include.)
Bottom line, for the extra $, the Magellan explorist 300 unit is far superior to the Cobra 100.
