Description: The Garmin Etrex is a 12-channel, general purpose global positioning device.Compared to other general purpose GPS receivers on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $100.
Pros: Utilizes WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) technology to achieve an error margin of 3 meters or less.Serial computer interface makes it possible to add new programs and maps as well as store previous trips and data.Waterproof receiver stands up to the elements.
Cons: None noted, given available product data.
Suitability: A general purpose GPS receiver, suited for typical tracking and positioning tasks.Has an internal antenna which is desirable for activities where an external antenna would get in the way.This unit is lightweight, weighing in at 5.3 oz.
