Description: The Garmin Foretrex 201 is a 12-channel, general purpose global positioning device.Compared to other general purpose GPS receivers on the market, it is inexpensive at around $140.

Pros: WAAS-ready GPS device accepts radio signals which can help increase accuracy of positioning data to within 3 meters.Share information, update database maps, and add programs using this receiver's serial computer connection.Tracklog function automatically creates a record of the path traveled and stores it as a series of points for later use.Waterproof receiver stands up to the elements.

Suitability: A general purpose GPS receiver, suited for typical tracking and positioning tasks.Has an internal antenna which is desirable for activities where an external antenna would get in the way.This unit is very lightweight, weighing in at 2.8 oz.

Value: In view of its inexpensive price, this GPS receiver has great features for the money.Also note this unit is able to store up to 500 waypoints.This is in line with the average GPS device.
