Having used a number of GPS units over many years, the 76CX is very good. Maybe they have more troubles with maps in Euro-Land.

This and the 60 series are the only GPS units that you can drive with as well as use for hiking/boating/geocaching that work really well. The Magellan units that support both Meridian and Explorist are not nearly as nice from a hardware, software and firmware point of view.

I will keep this unit until Garmin comes out with one that talks and pronounces street names as well as all the other functions that the 76 has. Would have also cosidered the 60CX but the price of the 76CX was better with the rebate offered this month.

This unit was classified by the manufacturer as a marine GPS. The GPS map 76 cx has ecceeded all my expectations as a GPS receiver.
Fast to acquire satellites.
Powerful, rarely looses lock under heavy cover.
Accurate, in many cases one meter accuracy.
Accepts micro SD card up to 2GB.
Floats if dropped inthe water.
As far as versatility the GPS map 76 cx is not bad on the road, excellent on the trail and excellent on the water.
In my opinion the GPS map 76 cx is the best most powerful and most accurate consumer grade GPS unit available.
