    "Extremely disappointing" on by mbwhitecap

    Pros: Great concept -

Cons: Maps are old. Upgrade available but so called cust service could not tell me the age of map--marine application probably designed by someone who had never been on the water. At about 18 months old-- unit just died-- won't restart-- all waypoints lost

"poor quality screen" on by bbofvta

Pros: it had a nice screen for awhile

Cons: Within a few months of buying this unit, the screen cracked. Magellan said it does not replace the lcd, even under warranty, and wanted $90 to even look at the reason for failure. This was a unit that had not been left in the sun, nor used often

Summary: This is an overpriced, overhyped unit, and the manufacturer customer support is what you would expect from a local 7-11, not a manufacturer of this size. I would never recommend a Magellan product to anyone

"Awesome! Very good GPS" on by qwaxz

Pros: Great enhanced interface (at least from what I've seen it's been great).
Very easy to submit addresses and save them.

Cons: They could make the drawings a little better, (A five year old drew them!)
Sometimes it's slow at finding satellites/ getting a signal. (But it doesn't bug me!)

Summary: Great sleek design, overall a nice product!

    Updated on Mar 11, 2009

The experience in boating and hiking are a little limited but pretty good at tracking your way and backing your way back home. EXTREMELY RELIABLE GPS.

"Horrible product maps are 5 years out of date" on by comsumer

Pros: The only possible pro is the crossover capability but Garmin also offers one that has a guarantee that the maps are up to date.

Cons: Maps are approximately 5 years out of date at time of unit purchase for all magellan units according to customer service and the only way to update them is to purchase an update. Navigation is also impared due to this.

Summary: I purchased this product about 2 months ago and the maps were 5 years out of date. When I contacted customer service I was informed that Magellan units all come with the same outdated map set. The only way for a person that purchases one of these units to have up to date maps from the date of purchase is to also purchase a $80 map upgrade. This is a scam in my opinion. I would suggest a Garmin Nuvi 500 series similar product with 60 day map update guarantee.

"Cant be trusted" on by gary854

    Pros: Big Screen

Cons: Slow, Quirky, Wont reaquire, Cant be trusted

Summary: In a word "Trust" or lack of I should say. My directionally challenged daughter borrowed it to go to downtown Detroit at night. I was up all night because on the way down to Detroit she called me because it wouldn't reacquire the signal and was stuck on a screen from a destination from the day before. Finally after rebooting it started working. On the way back it was slow to acquire an expressway. She was one wrong turn from ending up in the ghetto luckily she saw the sign of the expressway back home on her own. Once on the eway it started to work. I cannot trust this thing anymore to give to my children.

I went on vacation and wanted to plan my trip from my living room. Preferably on the computer and download it to the GPS. Couldn't do it.

The service stinks, the web page is hard to navigate, to use it on the water you have to spend another 100 bucks for the card. Its not user friendly and it cant be trusted.
