"A little Buggy!"
Pros: Has ability to be a car, boating, and hiking GPS unit. The interface is straight forward and intuitive. It does very well as a car navigation system and the display is sharp and easy to understand.
Cons: If you are looking at using it for Geocaching, the process needed to convert waypoints from the .mgln files to the needed .upt files is a real pain. The system also seems to lockup for no reason even after a firmware upgrade.
Summary: I would be very hesitant to purchase this at the retail price but since I got mine for $109.00 I feel I got a great deal, the car navigation part works flawlessly, and the boat part also does what I need, but the hiking part leaves much to be desired especially for geocaching. I usually use mine to load the waypoints for my geocahing trips, use it in car mode and take out my handheld unit to lead me to the spot. It's just too much of a pain converting the .mgln files to .upt files that the hiking mode can read. It also has an annoying habit of losing lock when you get within 30' of a cache and displays a message saying you are close to your desitnation. I wish it would just hold the lock and let me cancel it instead. I tried my friends Garmin I forget the model but it retails for $99.00, I can say that the Magellan Crossover worked better for me, his would constantly try to get me to drive down a raod that I know is a dead end when I would use it to go home, and the arrival time was off anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, sometimes it would show me arriving early sometimes it would show me arriving late. The Crossover is always within 5 minutes everytime. I would say in summary that if you're looking for an all in one, the Crossover will work but it doesn't do anything great but it will work. If I hadn't gotten mine for such a deal I would opt for the price to get a car unit that lets you upload waypoints and a hand held unit to find your caches.
