"Good Starter, but Leaves Thing to be Desired"
Pros: Cheap ($130 in rebates!), good basic functionality for a first GPS.
Cons: StreeFinder constantly said "off route" and a lane change would bring it back on route. Needs a little more slack (or better yet, user-definable slack) for route management. No visible easy way to extract waypoints from Palm back to host.

"Software makes this a poor choice."
Pros: GPS works great with reasonably long battery life.
Cons: Mapping/Routing software consistantly chooses bad routes. Computer must be connected to the Internet when generating a route.

"Rand McNally doesn't support software"
Pros: Very small and light. Uses batteries very sparingly compared to dedicated GPS units. Really good price can be had from the Palm Store sometimes; $50 with rebates.
Cons: The Rand McNally software that comes with the product is obsolete and the maps are missing many roads. The product manual says that the software can be upgraded. I have attempted to contact both Magellan and Rand McNally several times over six months wi

"Good gps receiver, horrible US Rand McNally software."
Pros: GPS unit works well except for being a battery hog. You should plan to use this in the car with the plug-in adapter. Used in Ireland with the TomTom RoutePlanner UK and it was a lifesaver.
Cons: Software is horrific.
