"This unit has AAA database..priceless!"
Pros: The AAA database in right inside this little baby...instead of running to AAA for road trips to get the AAA Tour books, its already on this gps database...attractions, phone numbers, ratings..EVERYTHING! For $89 how could one go wrong?
Cons: Annoying female voice, but mute solves that.
Summary: I have the magellan 3140 and its big brother the 4000...for the $89 price I paid for each....its hard to have any real issues with these units. The bad features of the unit I identified are really personal annoyances more than design issues. I cant stress enough I have friends and been driven by limo drivers with different units , and I can HONESTLY say, I like my magellans better than all of them so far. The AAA partnership makes this unit A+++. I had an instance where the address I was given for a hotel was incorrect. I went into the AAA database found the hotel, told the unit to map it, and I was at the hotel five minutes later. While in the lobby two more people came in and said th addresses they typed into the hotel took them to some other location (which mine did as well)...but the AAA database in this unit corrected that mapping error and took me to the right place..they didnt have that feature...and one of the peoples unit was a $700 unit with voice commands...so much for paying big money. Buy these units you'll never be lost, and help is just a phone call away using the unit.
At complex intersections, unit goes to split screen with detailed intersection drawings and traffic flow...nice feature, but it tends to overwhelm and confuse the user while driving.
