I had this device for a month. I used it in the US and in Europe as well. These little beast is good overall.
I have not seen sluggish performance, it delivers what a 300 MHz processor can do, i.e. slower than a 400 MHz. I had no problem with routerecalculation either.
The reception was excellent, I can use it sitting inside of a building next to a window even in cloudy weather. Or in my pocket outside.
I had no problem with following the voice instructions in the car however the screen is small, so if your vision is not good you wont see it clearly in the car. I also like that the mp3 player does not stop when instructions come. It's a matter of taste. The device is not very loud (small device) so plug it into you car with a cassette adapter or in line if you don't hear it.
If you want to use it for all kinda purpose (i.e walking or biking as well) it might be your best choice. If you want to use it exclusively in car pick another one.
The movieplayer is OK, but dont expect an iPhone quality, you will likely have to convert your files with the provided software (on the Navigon DVD).
Also I got it for 100$ on sale from TigerDirect.com with 2G card loaded with North America plus the DVD. That was a steal.
