"Mine is from EVGA"
Pros: Price>$289.00 from Newegg It was on sale.
Does what the reviews say.
Many of my apps require a NVIDIA card so my old ATI 1900 had to go. This card was much faster on XP than the 9800GX-2 is on Vista 64. But that is a Vista problem not the 9800GX-2.Cons: Generates enough heat to make my computer room too hot. I leave the side panel off for cooling. The box is full of 3 HDD. I have a HP m9340f box and it is a tight fit. I had to move and modify several parts to seat the card.
Summary: The primary problem is Vista 64. I had to reinstall last July, the computer was 8 months old then. I did this after spending many hours with HP support who sent me to Microsoft as they had no clue. More time with MS. Then he said format and roload.
I have to up date the NVIDIA drivers often or it locks. No BS, no error msg. Now I know a new driver is out and I have to get it. It is a pain.
Updated on Oct 7, 2009My opinion of the reviewers statements.
This was the fastese single slot card made at the time of the review. It is still very good conpaires to new cards. I found mine at Newegg a EVGA Geforce 9800 GX-2 for $289.00. $600.00 would have been out of my price range. To fault it for not running a game at some frame rate you picked out is unreasonable. No other pair of cards can either. And single slot cards? People like with a single slot MB love this option. 5 stars no less.
