Depends on System and Use

Pros: Good performance for price

Cons: Very buggy drivers

Review: Good for Win XP users

User Rating: 8/10

very good for the price, got it for $119 cdn ($99 US), but very very annoying drivers

Pros: same tv features as AIW 9800pro, great value and performance for the price

Cons: annoying drivers and update process

Review: Currently, if you can find it for 100 bucks, its very good value for the occasional gamer who wants mainstream multimedia features, great TV quality, the drivers however are very lame, the newest driver slowed down the abillity to change channels using remote wonder and keeps a picture of a lock on the TV screen at all times, remote wonder screws up a lot, but for the price its not an issue, graphics are quite nice, halo: combat evolved works quite nicely without the AA and AF at 1024 x 768

Lousy software and drivers...

Pros: Works well on older P4 systems.

Cons: ATI, AMD, and Windows XP...terrible combination!

Review: In installed this card on a fairly new system...AMD Athlon64 3300+, 1GB PC3200 DDR400, 160GB HD, etc. Problems began immediately!

Initially I had to download and install special drivers because I have an AMD processor, which is not natively supported!

I received several warning from Windows XP Pro. w/ SP2 stating that some of the software and drivers (from the CD) were not signed, and had not been verified as compatible with Windows XP. (I later downloaded the updated software and drivers from ATI's website, but had the same problems.)

After I restarted my computer, it continually crashed to the blue screen of death, each time reporting corrupted drivers. Safe Mode worked to some degree, but it too ended up crashing. The only method of solving the problem was to use the "repair" feature on the Windows XP CD to reinstall the OS! (Even uninstalling the drivers and software from Safe Mode failed.)
--------------------------------------------
I tested the card on a friend's older 2.8GHz P4 system running Windows ME, and it installed and ran fine. However, the software is old, "clunky," and poorly layed out. In addition, options are at a minimum and it is heavy on system resources. Luckilly there are other software packages out there that can replace most of the ATI software. (Including GB-PVR, which is free!)

The video quality isn't quite as good as I expected (displayed on a 19" monitor, it's not as clear as a 20" analog TV), but still better than some of the cheaper alternatives. In addition, there were times where the video and sound wasn't quite synced.
---------------------------------------------
Overall, I recommend staying away from this card, especially if you have Windows XP and/or an AMD processor, as it is not a combination worth trying. I suggest looking into the Nvidia Personal Cinema FX5700 series, which offers comparible performance and can be found online for less than ATI's AIW 9600.

Terrible Card, Terrible Software

Pros: Nice specs

Cons: The drivers threw all kinds of errors and crashed my machine. The Catalyst service ate 700MB of memory and slowed my machine to a halt. The card would occasionally fail to display altogether, even during the system's POST. ATI's tech support was useless a

Best Budget Card Ever.

Pros: Very easy to use customization software. dual moniter support, s-video out, fast ramdac and processor, very good card for the gamer who wants good graphics without breaking their wallet.

Cons: no s-video in!, didnt come with dvi-to-vga converter, and i cant think of anything else bad :p

extremely poor synchronization with HDTV

Pros: ?

Cons: Can not sync well to AQUOS 37" HDTV, the sync quality is bad and there are virtually no controls to improve it, while NVIDIA syncs much better with no visible artifacts and provides a "calibration screen" which drastically improves the picture quality com
