• "GREAT HARDWARE - WORST SOFTWARE - TECHNICAL HELP? FORGET IT"
    1.0 stars

Pros: Hardware meets all expectations, not really any problems with the hardware. Remote is nice.

Cons: The worst. Software instructions bad, tech help worse. Remote software crashes all the time. Easy look software locks up frequently. Software updates cause more problems then they fix.

Summary: Dont buy unless you like to swear. Have had this since last year. Never worked right. ATI's respose every time I call with a problem "YES OK WE AWARE THIS ISSUE, WATCH FOR RELEASE OF NEXT SOFTWARE UPDATE, SHOULD FIX" I think this must be a standard response. Just read the information tag by the version updates, generally the known issues of the new release is longer than the issues fixed by the release. Poor update installation instructions, if not uninstalled and installed in the right order your software wont work at all. I purchased the ATI component adapter for my HDTV, this works very well I would definitly recommend this if you own a wide screen. Still cannot display correct aspect ratio for tv mode, I got DVD's to display correctly though. Mainly bought for TIVO - I gave up on that because it wont fit the screen size correctly. Software locks up so much, I gave up on all the ATI software, I only run the video drivers. I use other (non ATI) software for the DVD players and such. Quit using the remote because of the software, I may try WinDVD's remote. This was a expensive learning for me, my freinds that had ATI cards all told me the hardware was good but the Software was a nightmare. Back to Nvidia I guess, never had any problems the likes of this.

Whoever rated it a 2 is being very generous

This has got to be the worst hardware experience I've had. Watch TV for more than 10 minutes and it freezes, When it locks up you can't kill it. Your wallpaper has a big hole in it where the TV was running. You can't even restart your computer, you have to powercycle it.

There is no such thing as support. All they do is tell you that YOU screwed up the install and to uninstall then reinstall, which is a complete waste of time.

Why doesn't their install program know how to properly install itself.

Now I'm stuck with a piece of garbage, look out ebay here I come.

Gota 9600xt AIW. Worked great for about a year. The when new driver and MMC updates came out they wouldn't install and MMC would never work properly anymore.

I can't even get the darn WDM drivers to install anymore. Basically as it stands right now none of the AIW features of thsi card work, and I'm just using it as a regular 9600xt.

I gave up trying to get it to work as no frigeen computer part should be this much hassle to make work. I will have serious doubts about anymore ATI AIW's.
