"Great FPS, quiet, energy-efficient . . . no complaints!"
Pros: Extreme Graphics capabilities
Cons: You gotta' have a lotta' RAM and a decent processor to take FULL advantage of what this card has to offer!
Summary: The x850 XT Platinum Edition is the best graphics card I've ever owned. Period.
After Battlefield 2 came out, my Radeon 9800 pro 256 card was starting to show its gray hairs, and i knew that if I wanted to suck every bit of graphical capability out of the game, I'd have to beef up my graphics card something fierce.
Enter the x850 XT PE. The only time the fan noise is an issue is for 5 seconds immediately after you boot up your computer. After that, it's smooth sailing.
Unlike the x800 XT PE, this does not require a large amount of energy, and if you have a 350W Power Supply (standard on most computers), you're laughing.
Only thing is- make sure the rest of your system is up to the challenge- I'd recommend at least a P4 2.8 with a minimum of 1 Gig of Ram (1.5-2.0 preferrable).
I'm investing in another gig of RAM to bring me up to that 1.5 Gig number as the paging file sometimes pushes the required memory up to 1.2 gigs, especially when flying, otherwise you start to dip below that magic 30 fps floor beneath which you daren't tread in the world of BF2.
Overall an A+ card if you can afford it!!
