Product brief
Description: This eVGA E-GeForce 6200 is a 256 MB, mainstream 3D card.Compared to other mainstream 3D display cards on the market, it is very inexpensive at around $45.
Pros: None noted, given available product data.
Cons: Only has a 400 MHz memory clock speed. This is not out of line with the product's price, but is slower than the average graphics card on the market today. This card's AGP 8x interface is slower than that of the standard graphics card that is available today.
Suitability: Suited for all productivity tasks, as well as for the casual 3D gamer. This card supports DirectX 9 technology, which is still the standard for those who want to play games with advanced 3D-rendering techniques, but it does not support Vista's DirectX 10 standard.
Value: In view of its very inexpensive price, this graphics card has great features for the money.
Suggestions: (1) Since this card is DVI-capable, you might want a DVI-enabled monitor or a flat-panel display to connect with it -- this will pass the digital video signal directly without converting it to analog, making for better performance.(2) For Editor's Reviews of the latest graphics cards, visit the graphics and sound section of CNET's website.
